  • Waterworld

Waterworld is one of those movies that has always simply entertained me! I'm not looking for some "realistic" look at the future or believable story line but simply an escape from reality and of course this movie delivers with some real tongue in cheek moments. Costner delivers as well but sometimes the script and his "accent" is a little awkward at "tender" moments but there are not a lot of them fortunately. Simply fantasy... don't get bogged down in reality when you are looking at something meant to entertain. Some of the special effects are really great and some are simply a bit over the top, but this is one of those films that still entertains with its treatment of some of the interplay between the actors. Most actors don't like working with children, but Costner seems to do well with ...

  • A movie with some awesome action scenes with in a ocean environment

The movie has some pretty nice artistic aspects and has some variations of life with in it of perspectives about life with in the artistic expressions. It does have some similar aspects like the movie called Mad Max,although different in various ways such as Mad Max was in a desert like environment and Water World is in a ocean type of environment and so on that it is. There's some things to like or love about it and some things to not like or hate about it such as it's pretty nice in aspects that it is and some of the other aspects aren't so great. If you like some action type of movie that's a movie with in a ocean type of environment you may like it or love it. Sincerely,Michael Stugart

  • I love Waterworld...But

I really like Waterworld, in fact I have owned a few different copies of this film over the years. The wide screen version would seem to be the best version but since the movie was filmed in full screen wide screen actually cuts out important parts of the movie. I bought this dvd because I recently got my hands on an unedited copy with 40 minutes of extended scenes, and I wanted to have the original copy as well. My recommendation would be to get the full screen version and just push the zoom button for wide screen televisions. At least then you have the option to see the movie that is cut out of the newer versions.

  • Mad Max on a boat

This is a great film in the style of the Mad Max series. Both Costner and Hopper give solid performances. The movie is at times comedic (thanks mainly to Hopper's hilarious character) but it's a sci-fi drama/action for the most part. The director did a good job in conveying what the world and its survivors would be if there was no dry land anywhere. Life would turn in a kill-or-be-killed scenario where only those who could adapt would survive and even thrive. Having said that, if you are scientifically-minded try not to think too much in its inconsistencies and take it for what it is. So if you like sailing, oceans, etc you will probably like this flick.
