About this product

Product Information

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is a beat-'em-up action title that follows events from the first two films in the movie trilogy, which is based on the novels of J.R.R. Tolkien. The game is inspired by the battle scenes found therein. The story is told through footage from the movie that slowly melds to in-game cinematic screens, all explaining the origin of The Ring and those who covet it. Players choose from three warrior characters, patterned after their onscreen personas: Legolas the Elf, Aragorn the Ranger, or Gimli the Dwarf. Then, embark on a quest that spans a multitude of levels. Players will revisit such familiar locales as Fangorn Forest and the Mines of Moria.

In each of these areas, players are beset by hordes of enemy orcs and other such assailants, in addition to fearsome boss creatures. Far from helpless, players are able to parry blows and execute melee (quick and fierce) and ranged attacks, as well as a number of combination attacks. These combination attacks reward players with varying grades; the more frequent and lavish the combo, the better the grade and the more points earned. At the conclusion of each level, players can use these points to increase character attributes or purchase new combination maneuvers.

Twelve missions make up the bulk of the gameplay, with additional branching paths added to the main mission structure at various junctures. Throughout these worlds, players will encounter familiar NPCs and even occasionally fight alongside the likes of Gandalf. The disc also offers unlockable extras, such as interviews with some members of the film's cast, extra characters, and sneak peaks of the second movie in the trilogy.

Item arrived quickly and as described. It functions perfectly and was not damaged in transit despite the poor packaging of the item. I was honestly a little annoyed to have paid $5 for shipping on a $2 stamp, but it’s still a decent total price and made for an excellent gift. Don’t take my comments negatively; I would buy from this seller again and do recommend others consider this seller as well!

I use a shipping rate for Canada which is the same price no matter which game you buy. The Nintendo DS game that you bought happens to be extremely light. For 95%+ of the games, the shipping price makes sense. However, some games are heavier and some games are lighter than the average - so there is an aspect of fluctuation that I account for. But you're right about the total price, that's what matters, I also currently have "Best Offer" on - so you can always make an offer to get a better price.

The Two Towers: A Great Game for a Great Movie

This game is a classic PS2 adventure for any fan of the Lord of the Rings series, both book and/or movie trilogy. I remember this being one of the first games I had as a kid. While the gameplay is very standard for the PS2; you hack and slash you way through various middle-earth themed enemies from orcs and uruk-hai to the deathly Nazgul, utilizing button mashing combos along the way to maximize the damage dealt; it is a great game and has that iconic LOTR charm to it. The game takes scenes directly from the Two Towers movie produced by Peter Jackson and has them morph into the actual game events. Since these cut scenes are involved, the game largely follows the portrayal of the series exactly as it was in the Peter Jackson film, with the eventual option of more character choices once you ...

  • LOTR: Two Towers review.

I am a fan of games that blend cinema style play with game play itself. Now games like Until Dawn and the Quarry do this, but Lord of The Rings: the Two Towers did it well in its own right. The game is packed with power ups, challenges and characters you can beef up. And the actors themselves lent their voices to the characters you play. This makes the experience all the more fun because you're playing the movie through these tools. The game is well rounded and entertaining. It's great and fun nostalgia!

  • EXCELLENT

This game is awesome!! It starts kinda in the fellowship and leads to where the two towers goes in the movies. It is alot better than the first lord of the rings game which was not made by EA Games by the way. And is a blast to play. The graphics are done very well and the game play in my opinion is tremendous. I bought this game for only $7.95 and it was factory sealed and an original release. I love this purchase and wish I came across more like it. I would refer this game to anyone wanting to or interested in purchasing it!!

  • Fun RPG for hard core gamers

This turn based rpg game takes on a different perspective of the Lord of the rings trilogy. It brings together a completely different set of characters behind the visible cast of the movies. The great part about this game is the path these characters take, following the fellowship but always helping them from afar ( but sometimes directly). There isn't anything about this game I do not like; it plays smooth, the graphics are great for it's time, and the gameplay is terrific. So far I've beaten this game 3 times many years a go, but i thought i would pick it up once more, and enjoy it a few more times. this is a must buy for any true lord of the rings fan!

  • The title was one of the top selling console titles of 2002 and 2003

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is a 2002 cross-platform video game based on Peter Jackson's New Line Cinema films The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. The title was one of the top selling console titles of 2002 and 2003[citation needed] and was widely praised for its seamless transitions from actual film footage to interactive game play.IGN, rated the PS2, Xbox and GameCube versions 8.3, 7.6 and 8.0, respectively, they noted the vivid graphics, the well-implemented beat em' up gameplay, the RPG-style elements and the transition from FMV to in-engine cutscenes, in terms of flaws, they noted that the game was actually hard, that the Xbox version was the same as PS2 and there were only 4 characters to choose, but in conclusion was ...
