Like flies on a 3-bean salad, Nashville is buzzing about JR & The Roadkill Choir and their collection of original, irreverent, country-flavored songs. After you hear their tender love ballads "You're too Ugly to be Cheatin' on Me" and "I'm Drinkin' You Beautiful", or the relationship-ending "I'm Not Drunk Enough to Dance", or the desperate housewife's anthem "No Man Was Ever Shot Washin' the Dirty Dishes", you'll understand how they have earned the reputation as one of the funniest bands in Nashville. Most everything you need to know about front man JR can be found stuck to the floor mats of his brown 1970 Vista Cruiser station wagon...except, maybe, his favorite songwriting influences which include: Jim Croce, Merle Haggard, Jerry Reed and whoever writes those funny songs for The Simpsons (the TV show, not Jessica and Ashlee!) As for the Choir, they are currently in a witness protection program. We could tell you about them, but then, you know... One of JR & The Roadkill Choir's earliest gigs was a WSM battle of the bands radio contest in Nashville. They were chosen as one of 16 finalists from a pool of over 1000 entries. They ultimately won the contest- earning the opportunity to play at the legendary Ryman Auditorium and proving that there is a place for Roadkill humor in country music today. In addition to playing the "mother church of country music" the band has appeared at venues such as The Bluebird Café, The Ford Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame, Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, various theaters, civic centers, corporate events, and parties. They have opened for Ray Price, Steve Azar, Jamie O'Neal, Bobby Bare, Bryan White, Daryle Singletary, Catherine Britt, and Linda Davis.
