Sounds worth porting!
While not as good as either of McKeehan's first two cd's, this one is still very good. It is thorougly hiphop, less rock and more pop. There's also more rap and R&B, more reminiscent of his days with DC Talk. The production is slick and there is still some variety. One World and I'm for You are good examples of his pop sensibilites, as is Made to Love of the hiphop genre and Boomin' of rock. The rest of the songs are more R&B and soul than these. The songs are generally catchy both lyrically and musically. The themes of human unity and racial tolerance are once again explored here. While the words are sometimes generic in regards to loving both God and others, they are still positive and edgy without being preachy. Some numbers, such as Opera Trip, Chuck's reggae, and Talkbox ... While not as good as either of McKeehan's first two cd's, this one is still very good. I bought this cd because I wanted something different. It's a Rap/Rock cd .It had great reviews, so why not? I was pleased. This is a cd that can take a dull day and make it into a great day. "Ignition" will light you up with it's rockiness, and if it doesn't I don't know what will. "Made to Love" talks about how all of us are made to love God. "No Ordinary Love" is about God's undiscrible love. To end the cd,TobyMac,Kirk Franklin and Mandisa sing " Lose My Soul", more like a prayer being sung about being all for God and being the way God wants us to be. Toby Mac is BACK!
Awesome follow-up to "Diverse City". Although not quite as excellent as it's predecessor, it is well worth any dollars you might shell out for it. "Boomin'" is by far, IMO, the best track on the disc but has others such as "One World", "I'm For You" and "Lose My Soul" in which T_mac enlists the help of gospel great Kirk Franklin. His son, Truett (aka Tru-Dog) makes a reappearance with "Hype Man", which truly gives the CD a "family" appeal. Toby Mac keepin' it real...you won't be disappointed!!Awesome follow-up to "Diverse City".
