  • A Tale Of Two Stories (All Good)

    I bought this on the strength of the excellent comedy serial that was recently on Australian TV. For me it was the best comedy I'd seen from our own shores in many years. The book is however different and has its own road to travel. Fortunately Benjamin Law is a good engaging writer and I generally enjoyed his story of growing up in a family which had the parents separate. The fact they were Chinese didn't come into it although the writer referred to it several times. His Chinese family seemed no different to non Chinese families that I've known over the years. The same hassles and love for one another. It was also interesting how he spoke about growing up gay. This book could have been stereotypical of Chinese and gay youth but it is not. It is refreshing to read and learn about them ...
