I remember playing Area 51 at the arcade with my cousin and we had lots of fun. Having played the game on the Sega Saturn, I must admit that I am disappointed. Even with a Sega Saturn light gun, it's not the same playing this game at home. I believe the biggest difference is the loading time. Don't get me wrong, the Saturn has done an excelletn job translating this game. However, the Saturn version suffers from some slowdown which affect the gameplay. Another bad thing is the game is too short. Even with 2 player action, the replay value is low. This game is fun for a while, but you will get tired of it easily. If you have never played the arcade version of this game, give this a try. It might be fun for a while. If you are looking for a solid shooting game for the Sega Saturn, I recommend Virtua Cop 1 & 2.Read full review
In Area 51 for the Sega Saturn you are armed and ready to fight. Area 51 is a Light gun shooter and is base on the classic arcade unit. You are a soldiers of the Strategic Tactical Advanced Alien Response (S.T.A.A.R) Team and you have been trained severally for this kind of situation. Your main objective is to eliminate all threat of the very deadly alien infection, good luck. Keep in mind to not be so trust worthy of any personnel because they could become the enemy thanks to the evil alien infection. Remember to Shoot anything that moves, however be VERY careful not to hit other S.T.A.A.R Team members or you will get hurt.
Area 51 is an absolute classic and makes me so happy to have bought a SEGA Saturn and a SEGA Stunner! You should buy this too, for sure.

The graphics are terrible and so is the music. The game is also very short and fairly easy. BUT... somehow this game is charming in its outdated cheesiness. I had fun playing it but technically it's a terrible game. This probably wasn't very helpful.
