  • This lens is a must have for anyone that can't afford an L-Series Lens.

By far... ok maybe not by far, but by a good deal, THE sharpest, NON-L Series Lens I have used, (I don't own any L-series Lenses). I have been Privileged enough to get my hands on this lens, and I must say it is truly outstanding. Not only does the "0" setting deliver stunning sharpness, but the HUGE Aperture takes full advantage of the lenses 52mm barrel, and provides stunning colors as well as stark contrast. The Soft focus Feature, can make any amateur Photographer, feel like they work for LifeTouch, or Glamour Shots, While I found the "1" setting nice, to keep sharpness in the center, I feel the need for the bump up to the "2" setting to really bring the shot together. While alot of people do post editing photoshoots, if you dont feel up to editing EVERY picture, This Lens will ...

  • Everything I need in one lens!

This is a great lens! The build seems a bit fragile, but you must understand that this is not part of Canon's premium lens series. Aside from a lens exterior that is more prone to damage, the interior lens glass is still top of the line. You can focus on objects both near and far while maintaining image sharpness for objects in focus, and you get a smooth blur for everything out of focus. Although you should consider many different types of lenses for a wide variety of applications, I believe this lens can be used in just about any situation. I am very happy that I made the purchase. The images that this lens helps to produce are beautiful.

  • Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 w/ Soft focus

This lens provides excellent results as a portrait lens. I am using it fully open at the 2.8 f-stop and the result has been beautiful portraits that really project out in almost a 3 dimensional effect from blurred natural backgrounds. I am very impressed and delighted with the results. I was also very interested in trying out the soft focus feature. With the lens fully open, best results seem to come with a setting of about 1/3 of a unit on a scale of 2. (A little bit goes a long way.) I think that some back-lighting may be helpful in achieving a "dreamy" effect, but I have not yet experimented with that yet. So far, I prefer using it as a standard 135mm portrait lens with sharply focused subjects and without selecting the soft focus effect. It provides a bright view through the ...

  • Amazing piece of glass. Absolute *magic* on full frame

I absolutely love this 135L on my 5D. This lens is great for subject isolation and background blur. The "bokeh" created by this is super creamy and smooth. There is something indescribable about this lens and the only way to describe is that its absolutely "magical" on full frame. The lens is super sharp wide open at F/2.0. The colors and contrast are what you would expect of a lens of this caliber. The build quality is top notch and "L" quality as expected. The auto-focus on this lens is lightening fast and never misses or hunts in low light. This lens is one of the most legendary Canon lenses ever made. If your thinking about getting this lens, don't think, just buy it! You wont regret owning this amazing piece of engineered glass. This lens is definitely here to stay in my bag or a long ...

  • Great for long indoor shots

I bought this to shoot my first wedding where I used all prime Canon L series lenses mounted on multiple bodies. This lens helped me out during the ceremony, it was a formal indoor Catholic wedding. I could have probably gotten away with my 70-200 2.8 IS which my second shooter had mounted though. Out of 500 ceremony shots around 90 were with this lens. I'd say it's worth it if you can get one in the $1000 range. The f2 really helps you out if you need long shots during receptions too, but I found out that I could get away with my 80mm 1.2 because it's easier to get close during something casual like a reception. 10 feet off the dance floor when a couple is doing their dance is very reasonable.
