The Deep Blue Sea
Not a bad film at all. Tom Hiddleston, who plays Freddy is very good. Rachel Weisz not her best movie. Her character is quite confusing. Overall I found it good, but think I will need to watch again

Bought again for Tom Hiddleston and again, not disappointed :)
Okay so I bought this only after I'd rented it on iTunes and watched it one chilly Saturday afternoon... This movie is adapted from a play, so keep that in mind as you watch it. It's dark and also a little bit jumpy in terms of the timeline and the flashbacks, but you're not lost. I must admit, about an hour in, I was feeling a bit disengaged, but then (and I would have to watch it again to pinpoint why) I suddenly found myself hanging on dearly and becoming quite interested in how things were playing out. Rachel Weisz is such a lovely actress; she's beautiful, yes, but she gives life to every role she plays and this is no different. But it's Tom who steals the show (if you haven't read my Hollow Crown review then I can pretend to still have dignity right now). I rented this movie ... I rented this movie because I'd heard he was a great actor in movies other than Thor (I'd watched him play Loki in all three Marvel movies and I was keen to see what else he could do). In this he is something else; I'm glad that I chose this movie to start off my collection (there goes my dignity ;) ). He portrays two sides of the same coin: a charming younger man for Rachel's character, and a petulant child not quite ready to grow up and face problems when they come knocking. Simon (who I have just realised was in the Hollow Crown as well) portrays Rachel's husband and even though I was dismissive of the character at first, I found myself feeling sympathetic towards him eventually. The movie is emotionally-charged on a subtle level and though the plot can be simplistic, the movie draws the viewer in until you don't even know how you ever managed to become disengaged in the first place. At least, that was what happened to me. I definitely recommend it.
