Children and adults alike have cherished this game since its release, and for good reason. Much like how competitive Smash Bros players feel the games peaked with Melee, most all Paper Mario fans agree this was, sadly, the last great game in its series, despite three more installments coming after it. The combat is fun and engaging for a turn based game, holding even my younger, more impatient mind's full attention. The exploration and world building is even more genius, allowing paper Mario to take previously popular paper patterns, such as a paper boat or plane. The story is fun enough to engage a child, yet deep and treacherous enough to interest an adult, making it an excellent game for story, as well as gameplay

Pros: One of the best games in the Paper Mario series. Cons: One of the most expensive games in the Paper Mario series. When it comes to gaming, Nintendo is a household word. The quality of its games are universally recognized as some of the finest achievements in gaming BAR NONE! But with that being said, the sad reality is beloved games like Paper Mario, the Thousand Year Door has not been posted over to more advanced systems like the Wii/Wii U/Switch. For this reason, unless you got deep pockets (150 USD and up) and ONLY for the 2004 GameCube system, then you are really out of luck, as this game is only for the GameCube. This bizarre tactic by Nintendo really irritates most gamers as it is not difficult to port this game over to the presently sold systems like Switch, and why Nintendo does not do so, leaves out a considerable percentage of gamers who really want to enjoy what classic systems have to offer. I know that I should have reviewed gameplay first, but I really wanted to express the disdain I and others have for Nintendo not porting it's best and most beloved games. The gameplay for Paper Mario is fantastic!! It's responsive controls, fresh take on the long respected Mario, and satisfying gameplay, will please even the most picky of platformers. And since it has a rich, colorful story with eye popping graphics, I won't spoil it with a description. If you can experience this game, by all means do!! It is well worth the high ticket price and the console it plays on is a worthy investment as well. GameCube is a very underappreciated console, with a very high quality library. But sadly for those who want the latest greatest, like Switch, you will be disappointed that Nintendo has not chosen to port this and so many of its best games to the Switch. So in conclusion, a great game hampered by a stagnant and mediocre company who does not keep with the times.Read full review

Exactly what I asked for, I had the game before, wonderful to have it again. Only issue I ran into is battle sequences would cause the disk to skip, on my gamecube it would then error out, but on another it'd simply loop a small portion of music again with no problem. Possibly something that could be fixed with a disc cleaner. Either way I played it all the way through and almost completed everything but enough to know the disk was in good enough shape to play again if I so choose.

Never played this game but did hear the good praise it has. So I bought it out of curiosity and it was amazing. The controls are great, the combat is satisfying to pull off, and the characters are filled with personality. The story is very good which makes it compelling for me to keep going. This is now considered to be one of my favorite Mario RPG games I’ve ever played!

One of my favorite games growing up! I played through the whole thing to make sure the disc worked well. The disc was slightly scratched and the game glitched in a few areas, which was a little frustrating. But to be honest, it could have just as easily been glitching from my old GameCube controller (but I haven’t had issues with it playing other games). That’s why I’m giving it four stars instead of five. Overall worth it though!
