I need a camera to give to a first time user , a student in a third world country and I chose this decade-old Canon . Although it is bulky and has a smallish LCD screen by today's standard, it is powered by the very readily available AA batteries , has an optical viewfinder to supplement the LCD and can focus near enough to the subject for life-size close-ups.For storage, this Canon does not require exclusive and expensive memory cards such as XD and memory stick but uses the common SD. Another alternative is the versatile)(also old and more expensive) Pentax MX4. I stay clear of Sony, Fuji and Olympus cameras of the same vintage because they require non standard memory cards.
I wanted to buy something that is not only cheap but also takes great pictures. I like the limited features which makes it a great starter camera. Simply super buy. Great quality pictures 5 MP is more than enough for me.Its super light weight.I wish it came with a lithium rechargeable battery. It uses a regular AA batteries and that sucks!
Had one before, lasted a long time. Just dropped it too many times!!Good basic camera for general photography. I use it for my Ebay pictures, and have always been happy. Easy operation, light weight and quality pictures..
For the price, it is an amazing camera. The colors are rich and the focus is clear. I'm very pleased and taking pictures like crazy. It's my second one.
Great camera, thanks!
