This game rocks, It is one of the best Multiplayer games out there, with an easy to operate system link, and a 4 player split screen. it also offers a Co-op to the Single player mission... This game also has a very addictive Single player game (for those who have no friends)lol There are a few frame rate issues to the game, slight lags, and sometimes the grahics and twig out, also the Multiplayer modes (besides Co-op) don't offer Bots, but this is not a big problem because of X-box live, 4 player split screen and the system link. The metal case to the Collector's edition is also pretty handy, its now a bit harder to hurt the case :) it also comes with a "the making of Halo 2" DVD. I don't like the fact that the DVD sits under the game CD and not in its own little plastic case, this might risk scrathing the DVD or game CD. at any rate This is a MUST OWN for the X-Box game systems!Read full review
Definitely better than the first Halo. The story actually had more depth to it. In the first Halo, I got lost in the storyline about halfway through. Thinking "what am I doing again?" In the second one, the story takes off from the get-go with the Arbiter's tale. Switching between the Arbiter and Master Chief actually made sense, giving the feel of "It's not just Earth's problem anymore". Vehicular combat is a bit better. The banshee, ghost, warthog, wraith and scorpion tank feel like they control easier. The spectre does suck, though. Multiplayer definitely got a serious facelift. Player insignias, Online multiplayer, more weapons, and the various types of matches make this an awesome game to have. Rumble Pit's cool for a free for all, and if you've got a few friends to play with, Team Slayer definitely rocks. I definitely recommend this game. Just word to the wise: if you get the map pack, buy it used. You're only going to use it once. And I think you can actually download the map packs from bungie directly once you're connected to Xbox Live. Overall the game's great. I just finished it off and am waiting for Halo 3 to arrive. Now that looks promising...Read full review
Halo 2 had one of the best online multiplayer platforms to date. It transformed the way most fps games are played today and paved the way for the following Halo games. The campaign was a nice continuation of Halo CE offering exotic worlds new weapons and enemies as well as a compelling story line to maintain interest for hours upon end. The graphics although were a bit ambitious for the time and the cut scenes are sluggish and often slower than the speech that accompanies them. The overall interactivity of the game keeps you constantly involved and stimulated. The player can pick up without having played Halo CE and be thrust strait into the story line and be able to understand the dialogue and the details of the story around them. 4 stars overall
game is very good as u all know. gray tin box is a nice upgrade, as well as extra dvd full of behind the scenes footage/making of halo 2. what sucks is u have to have dvd playback kit to watch the extras or put it into a dvd player. xbox decided not to let u watch dvds with the wired controller. that aside, the 480p graphics of halo 2 r very good, even in comparison to the 1080 graphics of games being released nowadays. game play is surprisingly interactive-u can jump onto tanks, take over enemy 'ghosts', and play on good and bad side of the 'force'. packaging is worth the extra money if u r a real collector and find it in good condition, makes 4 a nice set/keepsake. i've heard complaints of the game being too short, about 4 hours playtime 4 advanced 'shooters', but that doesn't affect the quality of it.Read full review
This is an example of an excellent game! I own an XBOX 360 and still play this original XBOX game online. The graphics were great (for the time before the XBOX 360). The storyline was good... a little disappointing but, that just means we get a Halo 3! Online used to be a blast. It's getting a little more aggravating everytime I'm on though. Between, bridgers, swearers, name callers, team killer, and yellers. If you can play without volume and hope you don't get stuck in a game with a "cheater" then the online play is a great (but, beware addicting) time.
I picked this particular auction because I liked that it was more complete and in better condition than others. Little did I realize I may as well have picked this fresh off the store shelves when it came out twelve years ago, and this was in far better condition than I ever could have hoped for. Even the advertisements and scratch cards this came boxed with originally were still un-touched, and I have to say I was overjoyed to share this experience with my little brother who got the same wide-eyed experience out of this that I got when I first played ten years ago. This was better than I could have possibly hoped for and would have gladly paid more than twice what I paid for the item.

The Good * Some of the best first-person shooter gameplay in the business * Outstanding multiplayer features--tons of fun modes and customization options * Incredible audio--music and sound effects both major highlights * Impressive artificial intelligence * Co-op mode tons of fun. The Bad * Disappointing story * Short campaign * Some unsightly graphical issues * No co-op online. Halo 2, the long-awaited sequel to one of the most widely praised, most influential first-person shooters ever created, has a very tough act to follow. Fortunately, it's built on a foundation that's as strong as they come. The game's success was preordained--publisher Microsoft tallied more than 1.5 million Halo 2 preorders in the weeks leading up to the game's release, which demonstrates just how confident Halo's fans are in the sequel's quality. But how is it, really? The good news is, the sequel to the Xbox's defining action game is an absolutely superb, fully featured game, boasting an excellent presentation, a highly replayable campaign, and the greatest, most complete online multiplayer component in a console shooter yet. A surprisingly disappointing story and a fairly short single-player portion are noticeable shortcomings, but there's just so much breadth of content in Halo 2, and the action itself is so outstanding, that there can be no denying its quality. Overall, it's one of the very best action games available. It's good to see you, Master Chief. There are several reasons why the original Halo ranks up there with a very small number of other first-person shooters as one of the definitive games in the genre. For one thing, Halo succeeded at establishing a cohesive, memorable, and original science-fiction universe. For another, the Master Chief, Halo's cybernetic protagonist, made a great hero. A fearless, enigmatic man, the Chief could succeed where pure flesh-and-blood humans could not, and guiding him to victory against the alien menace known as the Covenant, as well as the parasitic creatures called the Flood, made for a gripping story and an intense and satisfying gameplay experience. Halo's gameplay was amazing in that it seamlessly integrated top-notch first-person shooting with incredibly fun third-person vehicular sequences and outstanding friendly and enemy artificial intelligence. The game's subtle innovations--the tactical consequences of such things as having recharging energy shields, being able to carry only a couple of weapons at a time, the ability to throw powerful grenades in between shots, and the option of dishing out fierce melee attacks--also did a lot to differentiate Halo from other shooters, and proceeded to influence subsequent games. Halo's multiple, well-balanced difficulty settings, two-player cooperative campaign option, and assorted multiplayer modes also ensured that the game had tons of lasting appeal. All these factors contributed to the game's well-deserved success, and they're all back in Halo 2. For the most part, the sequel takes an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach to its gameplay--everything that you loved about Halo's action is back in full effect here. At the same time, the handful of new additions in Halo 2 are well thought out and well implemented, enriching the gameplay and making it seem fresh but still familiar. Everything that you maybe didn't love about Halo is pretty much back, too. Overall Rating: 10 out of 10Read full review
This takes place right after Halo C.E. and if you liked that one, then.....you will probably like this one, altough it does not feel as cool as it did when you get off of the ship on Halo C.E. and this massive world is before you and as immersive a game experince that I have never had before....but onto Halo 2, the gameplay is still the Halo you know and love, but now you can....wait for it.....dual wield, oh yes holding 2 weapons instead of one. Also for this first time you get to see through the eyes of Arby, which is great one of the better Halo moments for me, and it is a great ride through and through espcially the cliff hanger at the end. Also the manual is written in some pretty interesting text as reading in English and also the Covenant language, the bonus disc has some treats which any Halo Fan will love, also the case is awesome!Read full review
The next best game in the series. HALO: Combat Evolved is unarguably the best in the series. In HALO 2, it's *almost* as good, but the pistol and needler have been nerfed, compared to how well they worked in HALO: Combat Evolved. For comparison, here is a chart. H:CE H2 ---- ---- Weapons 5/5 4/5(a) Storyline 2/5 4/5(b) Local Multiplayer 5/5 5/5 Internet Multiplayer (Xbox Live) 0/5 4/5 Shields 3/5 5/5(c) Campaign 5/5 4/5(d) (a) HALO 2 did three things wrong: they nerfed (watered down) the Needler, and the Pistol. They also added the SMG (Sub-machine gun), which is near worthless. H2 does add the "Rail Gun," but it is found so rarely in-game it's not worth using. (b) HALO 2's storyline with improved character interaction is far better than H:CE. (c) H:CE had shields in your suit that depended upon power-ups, to a large extent. This limitation was removed in H2. (d) HALO 2's campaign (the personal run-through of the game that you make or with a local partner) was much more interesting, from a story perspective. However, the nerfed weapons make it less enjoyable than it would have with the H:CE "classic" weapons. Overall, once I completed HALO 2, I found myself spending more time in HALO: Combat Evolved except for when I wanted to play multiplayer on the Internet.Read full review
I decided to buy this game because i was tired of my old xbox console just lying there not being used. I searched for a game that i might be able to get into. I had only played the first Halo a few times and figured this game would be even better. I have to say i forgot how smooth this console delivered graphics even from a shooter game. I was very impressed with the cinematics of the game also. I would recommend this game to any shooter lover or just someone looking to brush the dust off an outdated console. Or you could pop it in your 360.
