The volume is graced by Kinnell's friendly inscription to British poet Ruthven Todd at Deya in 1970. And what could these two writers be doing in tiny Deya Mallorca other than visiting the grand old man of poetry, Robert Graves? Seems likely. Kinnell was an American original, and a gifted observer of human and outdoor nature, this was the book that made his name. Published by Houghton Mifflin of Boston in 1960. Overall very good condition although the un-clipped dustjacket (which is rarely seen, now protected by a mylar sleeve) is a bit edgeworn and chipped at the top, -- covers are clean, lettering and decoration is bright and sharp, some minor edgewear and other light signs of aging, no writing or marks in text, as pictured and described.”
