The scariest comedy of all time! It wouldn't work at first I had to hook up my blu-ray to the internet and get the firmware update, I guess you should check for updates for blu-ray players at least once a year. Anyway a classic on my XSRD tv 62 inch screen looks like watching it at the theater. The grandson of Victor Frankenstein is a teaching surgeon who has spent his life living down the legend of his grandfather, even changing the pronunciation of his name. When the diary of his grandfather is brought to him, he takes a leave of absence to examine the family castle. Then things get a little silly. Due to a switch, he implants an abnormal brain in his creation which causes problems, but things really get out of hand when the young Frankenstein's bride to be shows up at the castle. The whole film is shot in Black and white to simulate the old monster movie feeling.Read full review
If you are a fan of Mel Brooks' comedic parodies of famous film genres, you've seen this film, but the remastered Blu ray version adds a new dimension. Picture quality is stunning with the black & white, widescreen format pulling you in. The DTS-HD sound is clear with wide frequency response. Based on when this film was made, there are no real surround effects, just an increased ambience in the rear channels. as for the film itself, who could forget such comedic punchlines like "Frau Blucher!" or "What Knockers!". My favorite part was when the monster visits the blind hermit (an uncredited cameo by Gene Hackman) who pours hot soup in his lap. The Brooks stock company; Gene Wilder, Cloris Leachman, Peter Boyle, Madeline Khan, Kennth Mars, Teri Garr - can't be topped! There are great laughs on every viewing. A must own!Read full review
Without question, the most hilarious Mel Brooks film ever. From start to finish, this classic comedy lampoons the horror classics with ease and absolute deftness. And while the script itself is filled with unending quips and laugh-out-loud moments, it is made perfect by the cast's delivery. Young Frankenstein is one of those films where if you asked which was your favorite character, you'd have to think about it for about thirty minutes. How do you choose between Wilder, Leachman, Boyle, Feldman, Mars, Garr, and the incomparable Kahn? You can't. They are all equally deserving of high praise. If you are need of instant comic relief, watch this film!

This movie is hilarious and never gets old. The blu-ray edition is great, far supercedes the standard dvd. The extras on the blu-ray are themselves worth the upgrade but the movie has never looked better. Grain is apparent through most every scene but that is intended for the classic monster movie effect. The clarity and sharpness of the black and white picture is awesome on this blu-ray. I reccomend upgrading your old standard dvd to the new blu-ray.
Good family night movie

This movie has got to be considered one of the best comedies of all time and a true classic. It may seem silly to some, but the standout performances by all the actors involved, really make this movie shine. Even the cameo by Gene Hackman is outstanding. Cracks me up everytime!
I am still laughing. One of their funniest movies. Don't care how many times you watch it, it just gets better. The black and white help make it a classic.
