      The Best Pool Cover Pump

We had a Little Giant in the past, but tried to get by with the cheaper Lowe's type pumps etc. None compare with the quality and reliability of this pump. Franklin Electric (Bluftton, Ind.) has been making submersible pumps for over 60 years and it shows. This is a moderately heavy well designed pump with a good leaf/debri strainer and has worked flawlessly. Being automatic is crucial for winter time maintenance. Thanks. Tom T.

Very strong pump but not durable not worth the money

I bought this pump broken for parts.. I have a working one also. The pump looks new no fading you can read all the original numbers and letters. I took the pump apart the cord wasn,t pulled out of the clamp that holds it. Then I took the top cover off the plastic housing it has a micro switch for the magnetic float this is where the damage is it was corroded and water was inside I sprayed some electrical cleaner in it and turned it upside this is when water ran out. There are 2-ways water could have gotten in the cover has a large o-ring or the cord that comes up from the bottom with a slit hard rubber seal this is where I think it failed the cord seal it is pressed in so you have to destroy the plastic housing to get it out. I am going to drill a small hole in the seal and screw in a ...

    • pool cover pump

Great so far, haven't had it long, but for the time I have it works great. I had a rule pump before that I can not talk bad about it, although I had it, and left it out all winter for seven years, and it worked flawlessly, but after seven years, it just wore out. I found this one, and it's a bit heavier weight wise, and the wind don't blow it around like the rule, and it appears to be heavier duty then the rule, but time will tell. There was already water on my cover when I got this one and it drained it in no time, and it kicked on whenever water would surround it, and when the cover was empty, it shut off and has not come on since. I use the same one inch hose on this one as I did on the rule, and it works great. All in all, I'm happy I bought this one, and does a fantastic job, but you ...

    • The Little Giant Delivers BIG Results!

Had a smaller, cheaper pump that got frequently clogged and lasted just a couple of seasons. You truly get what you pay for most of the time. The Little Giant is extremely well built and has a large channeling area at the base that is less suseptible to clogging. The regular hose adapter does restrict the flowrate but is very acceptable for what it's designed for. If I have any complaint at all it's that the Little Giant is a little heavy. I have a safty cover on a large pool and it depresses the cover more than I'd like.

    • Good design, good quality & good performance

This was a replacement for a similar model that I got in 2012 and used for 8 seasons. The capacitor failed in March, but I have ordered a new part from Singapore and plan to repair it as, apart from some corrosion on the pump housing, it is still in good shape and was working well until the capiacitor failed. The original pump was made in Italy so sourcing an OEM Ducati capacitor was challenging. The replacement pump looks identical but is "made in China" . It performs well and hopefully will last as long as the original. It is a good design and pretty robust. I live in Canada and found it's worth shopping around for this pump with prices and shipping costs varying significantly. Purchasing from a US Supplier including shipping and taxes it was 1/3 the cost quoted by my ...
