About this product

Product Information

Enid Blyton's books are beloved the world over and The Famous Five have been the perennial favourite of her fans. Now, in this new series of Enid Blyton for Grown-Ups, George, Dick, Anne, Julian and Timmy are keen to show Aunt Fanny how much she means to them. Join Julian, George, Dick, Anne and Timmy the dog as they try to celebrate Mother's Day with Aunt Fanny. George has past form in forgetting - not least her mum's birthday and Christmas presents - so tensions are running high even for the charged normality of their mother/daughter bond. But things go from bad to worse when Fanny comes to stay, with relations strained almost to breaking point. Can the Five save the day, and will Uncle Quentin get involved?

  • Nostalgia With A Painfully Sharp Wit!

Every parent has at least heard of the Famous Five even if they haven't read the 21 adventures themselves. The stereotypical images of bygone years from these stories pervade society. We can reminisce about lashings of ginger beer and solving crimes that adults cannot. Now we have the latest pastiche of The Famous Five. The written style of Enid Blyton is imitated perfectly and yet this book (like the others in the series) is clearly aimed at adults who have grown up with the originals. It is immensely easy to read and is full of literal 'laugh out loud' moments that you find yourself wanting to share with others. I purchased this book for my wife (from my sons) for Mothers' Day in a sort of ironic sense. She loved it but would not read it to our boys (who are 6 & 9). I thoroughly ...

  • Enis Blyton Twist

I purchased the book to complete the set I have by this author, I think for me personally they are great and who knows many years from now they may well become collector material

  • good fun.

Mum (83) enjoyed it and so did I. Gave us a good chuckle. This book was a great price, much cheaper than I've seen in the shops. Dispatched quickly. Lovely wee book. We recommend it.

  • Good read

Really funny book. Just like being a child and reading the famous five again apart from they are now adults living in a modern world.

  • Verry funny and well observed

I have read several of Bruno Vincent's books ( my favourite is "Spare us" ) and some of the adult "Enid Blyton" Books. All very funny and well observed. Reading the last few. Well worth the read.
