    It will pay for itself

I used the ProSport20 to replace my original Triton 2000 3 bank charger. I was only getting 1 year on my cranking and trolling batteries. I fish hard multiple times weekly and by the end of the season my batteries wouldn't last 8 hours on the water. My first impression of the ProSport20 was wow this thing is really light. I bet it weighs less than 5 pounds. When I took my old one out (that said my batteries were fully charged), I couldn't believe have heavy that tank was. I put it on the bathroom scales and they said 23.5 pounds. I'm a lot about saving weight so that was a big plus. It was very easy to install with clear instructions. When I plugged it in (keep in mind my old charger said they were fully charged), they charged for 45 minutes until it went into the "conditioning" mode. The manual said when it goes into conditioning mode the batteries are 80% charged. That means my old charger was charging them around 75%. No wonder I was needing new batteries every season. They were in the condition mode for another 3 hours until it showed them fully charged. My Graph shows the volts on my cranking battery and the best it ever showed on the old charger was 11.6V after a full charge. This charger showed 12.8V after a full charge. Not only is it a great charger but it will also check them once a month and recharge for 3 hours to properly maintain them in the winter months. I usually don't write reviews but felt this one was worth my time.

    Very costly wire

The wires that go to each battery is 6 feet long. This was a marine installation and one of my batteries was out of reach, the directions state if you need an extension you must use a factory made extension that cost nearly $40. That is excessive for a 15 foot piece of wire and a few wire connectors. Otherwise it was an easy install. I have only had it for two weeks, so cannot comment on its quality.

  • very good unit

I have had 2 of these on different boats. the reason most people have problems with any of these or other charging units is they use to small of a gage electric cord to the unit causing low voltage and high amps for the unit causing it to fail. then they give a bad review, saying the unit failed. this same factor is the reason for a lot of the bad reviews on a lot of electrical devices. to small of electrical cord causes devices to get hot and fail. just because the cord indicates it is heavy duty doesn't mean the wire size will handle all devices. also the length or number of feet the cord is makes a big difference also. don't use a 100 foot cord if the device is 20 foot away. the longer the cord the more the voltage drop is, which causes the amperage to be high and the device to fail.

  • pro sport 20 plus 3 bank charger

this is how its done, park your boat plug it in, love it, I was charging each battery one at a time, had to unhook my 24 volt cable or leave unhooked till needed, it knows what type of battery, how low each battery is and adjust power charge, my 24 volt jump cable does not have to be removed. its a 600.00 mistake not to charge every month. plug up your ready for next trip. sometimes its 3 months before I get back to check the pro 20 does it for me. I know if a battery gone bad. water prof my boat stays out in the weather. great product

  • Battery for boat trolling motor

My husband really needed a replacement battery for his trolling motor used for lake bass fishing. Although it was quite a bit larger than the old one and initially posed a mounting problem (where to fit it on boat?), he figure it out so it fit nicely. Battery has plenty of juice when needed and works just great. He's well pleased.

  • Great charger

Did a lot of research before purchasing this charger as a replacement for my old on board charger, This charger has some really good features which, in my opinion, make it one of the best values in this price range. It is fast charging and applies a percentage of it's full amps to all of the batteries or all of it to one as the need requires. Definitely worth giving a hard look at if you are in the market for an on board charger.

  • Lightweight and hands free battery charger

i just got to use my marine battery charger this week as a buddy and I went fishing out of state for seven days. Used the charger every night and the batteries were fully charged and ready to go the next morning. I also like the plug it in and leave it for the extended storage times. I really like it, now if it lasts a long time like my other one did(20 yrs.) I will be happier!

Was easy to install. I had to extend the engine battery lead some to reach the battery, other than that it seems like it's a system that takes a lot of hassle out of caring for the batteries.
