This is a cable TV killer!!! And this one certainly works better then the first generation Roku I had, especially regarding the range of the wi-fi NOW which is outstanding!! I bought it specifically so I could buy a subscription to OAN (for $4.99 a month) because Xfinity doesn't offer that channel while also reducing my Xfinity bill, which I did by a third to pay for this non Xfinity service reduction and resulting service improvement!! Anyway if you have a challenging distance in your large house from your modem/router to your TV like I have, this Roku Streaming Stick Plus is just the ticket because it works where others wouldn't. Roku's Best in 2018 - Performs 4K TV - Could Be Better...
Got the New, Roku Streaming Stick +, this is the new PLUS model, performs stunning 4K TV which means its designed to transfer more data faster, loads faster to handle 4K TV, yes it is fast, click bam, feels almost like real TV, you can stream tons of channels Both Free and paid TV, I only gave it 3 Stars.. Because - 1. It does Not Turn Off, you have to unplug the USB to turn it off. 2. It gets kind of Hot, heat wise, seems kind of unsafe, could be a fire hazard.. 3. When I got Roku they used to allow many free private networks, allowing you to stream regular TV, now they don't allow those private networks that gave free regular common TV, so now to me the value of the Roku went down. I have to be honest with my reviews otherwise I don't enjoy writing them, eBay needs to post any review regardless of what it says, Amazon does. I bought Roku to try to cut the cable, but now in 2018 the Roku won't let me, the purpose of Roku is at this time to watch extra TV, but as far as I can see, it will not replace all the regular TV I want from dish.. I still need dish to watch TV, the Roku don't have all the channels like dish does. Time for a Roku upgrade?
We own five Roku streamers now, three sticks and two boxes. We just got a 4K Ultra Smart TV and the old Roku box, although still working perfectly, just wasn't going to cut it with the new flat screen. The choice was between the new Roku 4K Ultra box and the 4K Streaming Stick. We checked all of the features and decided that the best choice for us was the 4K Stick. We couldn't have chosen better. The new processor is extremely fast, the ability to select 4K Ultra HD programs and the increasing number of 4K Ultra programs that will be available made the choice to upgrade easy. Familiarity with the Roku setup process made installation/setup quick and easy. Linking with our existing Roku account was seamless. The built in app selection was varied. Purchased one with a new tv. Loved it. The whole family loves it. Tons of choices and options to watch. We cut off our spectrum cable services after we bought it, now do live streaming thru Directv Now. I just purchased 3 more for the rest of the TVs in the house to put in our bedrooms. The Roku is easy to set up and works well. I like this model because it has the television power and volume with it. Nice, fast, compact streaming stick
This is the second best roku next to the 4660 (UItra) Model. The Ultra is slightly faster in menu functions and operation of apps, but the 3810 is just a good so far in everything I've used it for. Absolutely Worth It!
I finally “cut the cable” and turned off my Direct TV subscription to use this. We were paying about $80 a month for Direct TV for their smallest package. We only watch a few channels and Roku with Sling for $25 a month has all the channels we want. I am actually getting 100's more channels with Roku and Sling than even the largest package on Direct TV. I purchased an outdoor antenna for my local channels and mounted it on the pole they put in for my Direct TV dish. If you're thinking about taking the plunge and cutting the cord with Roku, all I can say is JUST DO IT. You will be very happy and save a ton of money every year. We are saving about $800 a year and still getting all the channels that we watched on Direct TV and then some.
