In August 2007, the original members of Mudcrutch reunited and recorded an album for release in 2008. Mudcrutch contains 14 old and new tracks. "We would play and then we would just talk about the old days," says Tom Leadon, who left the band in 1972. Mudcrutch was a rock band from Gainesville, Florida best known for being the forerunner of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Tom Petty's first band, the Sundowners changed their name to the Epics, and around 1970, the Epics became Mudcrutch. Much like the Beatles at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, Mudcrutch served as the house band at Dub's Diner in their hometown of Gainesville, Florida.

    The seller listed a trilogy of books confirmed both by the ISBN provided and listing it as a pack as well as the weight etc of the trilogy. The seller sent me one single book and then offered me to buy the rest of the books. I paid ~$16 the books brand new for the trilogy is $23. To tell me they have the other books and suggest I pay extra is beyond insulting especially as that would surpass the brand new box set cost. The fact that they have the other 2 and wont send them is just outrageous.

    An early, different take!

    Tom Petty's original band......You can hear a couple of songs that could have been on a new Heartbreakers album, since three of the members were with Mudcrutch when formed, but really love the old country vibe on this long awaited debut effort!

    More Tom Petty please...

    This CD, the last that will probably be, from Mudcrutch, is a little more accessible than the first one but is basically a more experimental Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers album. With a little more blue grass, a little more blues and a little more country, if you are a Tom Petty fan then I recommend you seek this out, as original material from this gifted musician has begun to vanish all too soon. If you enjoy a laid back country rock, you may be surprised at the ease with witch these melodies will earworm into your brain. Though my being a fan coupled with his untimely passing may bias my opinion of this album, I still believe that this CD is a must for Tom Petty fans!
