I find them comfortable. Cord length is longer than some retractable earbuds I bought from two different dollar stores. Less likely to yank out of my laptop. My only gripe is the tiny metal band that keeps you from splitting the left and right cords keeps me from going further. It's not ideal for me but it will work. 4.5 out of 5.

I use these with my Ipad and like the retractable feature because I can leave them attached and they don't get lost or snarled. That said, these are far from the best ear buds I've ever used, but they are convenient. A bit uncomfortable in the ear after about an hour, but I haven't found any that aren't yet. They also tend to die unexpectedly after a few months, but even the most expensive models I've tried do that too. So for the price I just buy 3 sets of cheap ones like these to have on hand when I need them. Sound quality is acceptable but nothing to write home about. Works for me.

Firstly, when I purchased these, I thought they were going to be the soft fit, mushroom ear piece. MY BAD. I didn't look closely. These ear pieces don't fit snugly in the ear canal. are fairly large and actually irritate the inside of the ear. I would never buy them in a retail outlet. Secondly, they don't work properly; the right ear piece does not emit any sound. I've had problems in the past with retractable ear buds, so I'm not sure if the problem is inherent in the fact that the cord retracts and perhaps pinches the wire. I don't know.

OK. The retractable cord is a bad design. It bunches up and does not retract well. The ear buds do not fit comfortabley making them unusable for me. You have to have dumbo ears.

I love retractable headphones. I bought some on ebay 6 years ago that were made for "the Sharper Image", and were of decent quality considering they cost $5. The fact that these have the "phillips" name, I thought they were worth a try. I did not expect great quality, but these are useless for listening to podcasts. Reminds me of the crystal earphones that came with 60's vintage transistor radios.
