I am not mega rich and nor am I a dreamer. I lke value for money and that hardly ever means the cheapest; but nor does it mean wasting money on snob appeal or trying to impress someone else. So, that is why I rate this lens as excellent in virtually all categories. I did try the Sony A mount lens; I tried the Sigma and then the Tamron. They all had pros and cons and there was little to choose in price. However, the Tamron had the best wide angle range and a very useful 10mm bottom end, which on APS-C (I use an A77) is genuinely meaningful! If you lab test any of these types and price range lenses, they all have limitations. The Tamron had the fewest and it was light and flexible. It is not the 'best lens in the World' but then again it is not the most expensive either! Having lived with it for a while, I would definitely choose it again!Read full review
a good lens.

I had read good reviews in the photographic press about this lens. Having just bought a Sony Alpha 350 I wanted a wider angle lens than the standard kit one. It does exactly what it says on the box. Very crisp, almost fish-eye coverage. Little barrel distortion. Works well with the Sony autofocus. I am well pleased with the lens, with the price I paid for it, and with the service I got from SRS Microsystems
Great product
