As expected from Zeiss lenses the images are sharp, and well toned. Good colour rendering, and so far no discernible aberrations. The aperture ring has a nice solid feel to the clicks as I stop down or open up, the focussing smooth, and this particular lens there is a natty built in retractable lens hood. I'm using this lens on my Sony A7 with an M42 to Nex adapter. All in all, a good piece of 'old' glass for a very reasonable outlay.

This can be confidently recommended as one of the better vintage 135mm lens. It is compact, well-made, with very good optics. Image quality is good in all respects. Carl Zeiss made many variations of the 135mm lens: the one being reviewed is the all-black JENA DDR model F3.5. I found it to be in a different class compared to a rather poor copy I have of the Takumar Bayonet 135mm F2.5 and better than an Auto Chino 135mm F2.8, which is good in its own right. Just don't pay too much for it.

What can I say else then a Zeiss quality. I think the name says it all. Used it with my Nikon D700 FX camera, of course it needed a lens adapter, that costs about 2 dollars. Overall quality of the lens is great! Very sharp picture quality, clear bright color, and very precise. On the other hand, it has no Auto Focus function at all, so if you want to have quick fast shots, it’s not the right lens for you. Manual Focus scale is very wide, as for nearby objects you can make a precise focus keeping all the rest out of focus if you want. Great product for Its low price.
Really enjoying using this lens . On my Sony Alpha 6000 with an adapter it performs really well . Focussing is easy and the colour rendition is excellent . Well worth the money
