This is not the speediest (like 940) but is the optimum CPU for the 1st generation of Intel i7 based laptops or mobile workstations, due to its price, consumption and temperature!

I put this in a laptop not exactly knowing if this would work in a dual graphics hp-4280us laptop and i did do research on this, not finding what I needed, I decided its worth a shot and if not well and can let people know this particular processor will not work if u have dual graphics setup (I got this intending on eliminating the intel graphics).

I was looking for a better CPU for my Sony VAIO F11M1R which had i5 520M. The options for the PM55 chipset were i5 — 540M, 560M, 580M; i7 — 620M, 640M, 720QM, 740QM, 820QM, 840QM, 920XM, 940XM. 920 and 940 are usually over $500 AUD, so it wasn' considered. 840QM is 1.867 GHz, and 820QM is 1.733 GHz. Both 4 cores and 8 threads (which is twice the amount of 520M). ~130Mhz won't make a difference, although $45 will for me :) It's an awesome CPU and the laptop now flies like a bird again.
Installed in a Dell E6510 with no issues performs great. Temp is higher than it was with an I5. Installed extra copper to replace pads that were on the heat sink from dell for some of the on-board and gpu chips.
