This book is a fair guide on how to learn the Tarot cards which includes key words and key phrases to help the reader remember what aspects can be present in each card. The book goes into a bit of the history of Tarot but quickly digresses into Astrology and and aspects of Tarot/Astrology similarities,,elements ( fire air water,) in relation to the Minor Arcana which I found helpful, are mentioned planetary alignments, which in my opinion is a bit to much for a beginner or someone simply wanting to read tarot cards alone. The book does go into what the cards can mean in a reading but to me it was either too vague or too detailed, IE too much digression into the Astrological and Planets, I get the point there is a connection but the book is titled "Tarot awareness". That being said once a person gets beyond that the book is a fairly helpful guide to understanding the Tarot cards and the general meanings of them in a reading,.reversal are touched upon but not enough for me. This book would be wonderful for an Astrological student or teacher who wants to incorporate Tarot into their lives. I have done Tarot readings professionally for over two years and find the book fair. If you are a beginner I would be a bit hesitant to delve into it just now, or begin with the knowledge that pretty extensive Astrological terms, & Elemental connections will be used.Read full review
Don't let the Christian perspective of this book fool you. Its not the right-wing brand of Christianity that has been manipulated to force a political agenda down our throats for so long. Its more the Universal Truth in Christianity that can be identified with no matter WHAT your spiritual background. It is inclusive rather than exclusive and covers the Pagan Wheel of Life as well as the Jewish Tree of the Kabballah. It also includes correspondences with Numerology and Astrology if you have those tools in your toolbox of magical understanding. The book also references modern science in the fields of Psychology and Quantum Mechanics. It discusses the uses of the Major and Minor Arcana as well as a detailed analysis of the magical imagery used on each card. There is as well, a step by step guide for beginners to do several different kinds of readings included at the back of the book. I hesitate to recommend ANY single reference for the Tarot, but this book comes pretty close. Its amazing how much information and Spiritual Guidance is packed into this single volume. Highly recommended as an addition to your library. A good read, too.Read full review
