In 1955, Jeanne Holman (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) and her sons Tom and Gunny (Joseph Mazzello and Seth Mumy) are struggling to survive on their own, after Jeanne's husband is pronounced missing in the Korean War. When Jeanne takes in an injured vagrant named Jack (Patrick Swayze) who she has accidentally hit with her car, everyone in their convention-bound 1950s suburb questions her sanity. Jeanne's risk pays off, however, for the secretive and mysterious Jack possesses special, magical powers, and he not only uses his gifts and wisdom for the town's benefit, but also to help Jeanne's sons: Gunny is dying of cancer, and Tommy longs for a father-figure. The Holman's world is changed forever by the magical love and kindness of the drifter and his dog, who leave their family as mysteriously as they entered it.

    I placed an order on 2/01/25 and the seller created the label but never dropped my package at the post office. They also didn't respond to my polite message inquiring on the status of my order. Finally, on 2/28/25 I decided to cancel. They also did not respond to my cancelation request. This decision was not easy. I am a seller myself, and waited as long as I could, trying to give them a chance. However, it seems they have a history of not shipping customer orders.

    One of my favorite movies

    Success is in its opposite. People often try too hard to succeed. Sometimes when we apply that same energy in the opposite direction, it boomerangs and we achieve out desired success. Teaching kids to relax and go within to find success, is a great message. Happiness is what you make of it, if you are willing to see it. There are more life lessons in this movie. Makes you heart feel good.

    Great, underrated family movie

    Love this movie, while not especiaaly well received by critics...this movie, to me, is why you cannot base your decision solely on paid movie critics. Very heartwarming movie that teaches to be grateful for what you have, and family. Solid performances by the entire cast. Well worth owning, and deserves a blu ray release.

    This is a great movie. One of Patricks not so well known early movies. This is a not so easy movie to find so if you find it and like it like I do then grab it. Awesome family movie.

    The. end of the story sums up the title when Tom once again encounters the angel.
