Dated But Good
In many respects this movie passes for a travelogue for Italy. It is certainly dated and a little too saccharin at times. But the music is first rate. The characters are generally well chosen. That said, I wasn't keen on Troy Donohue. Who else? I'm not sure. Suzanne Pleshette was beautiful, and played her role perfectly. Rossano Brazzi was also perfect for his role. Well worth watching.

Glorious armchair tour of Italy
Beautifully filmed homage to Italy in the halcyon days of travel when crowds were minimal and people dressed for the occasion. The movie wears its heart on its sleeve and is incredibly romantic. Of course you know where the narrative is going but the journey is a delight. Max Steiner's music takes you right up to the Alps with the characters. The actors have such beauty and presence on screen. Angie Dickinson is sensational,, Rosanna Brazzi tailored to perfection and Troy Donahue in the red sweater !!! The close-ups bring the love scenes to you. During these 2020 times when travel is restricted this is a great Plan B for that trip to Italy. A great companion piece to this movie is Light in the Piazza, filmed in Florence, also starring Rosanna Brazzi and the legendary Olivia De Havilland.Beautifully filmed homage to Italy in the halcyon days of travel when crowds were minimal and people dressed for the occasion.
