Mostly Works - Rating Based On Value
IF YOU WANT TO USE THIS WITH PROFESSIONAL EDITING SOFTWARE OF ANY KIND, THINK TWICE, AND DO SOME RESEARCH FIRST! For your average, everyday use, this works just fine. However, I needed to use it in conjunction with Pro Tools on my MacBook Pro 2015, as there are many keyboard shortcuts. It works for that purpose unless you use a modifier key on the main keyboard while using the keypad. For example, keypad 3 (KP 3) starts recording. However, there is a shortcut mapped to CMD + KP 3 (this opens a big time counter window), and you can't perform that shortcut with this keypad. I performed some troubleshooting to verify this, and without launching into a lengthy explanation, Mac OS doesn't recognize the keypad as an extension of the main keyboard, but as its own separate full-size keyboard. ... The two cannot be used simultaneously. It may seem like a small issue, but there are many such examples similar to this, and they all render this keypad completely useless to me. Don't hear what I'm not saying, though. On the subject of construction, it feels nothing like an Apple product, so don't expect that. It's very plastic-y, but it's durable enough. It has rubber grips on the bottom, so it stays put on all of the surfaces that I tried (wood, veneer, and metal). It's also small and very portable. As far as setup goes, it should be fairly easy. You have to tell a Mac that it's an American keyboard when you first plug it in, because it never really gets recognized for what it is. Every other time after that, it's just plug and play. In conclusion, this is a good buy for the price. If you're just looking to speed up working in Excel on the go, I'm sure this will work great for you. I didn't have a problem with the product per se; I just can't use it for my specific need, which most people probably don't share.

Touch and key action are the most important aspects of a keypad. The iHome is fairly good on those points, with minor drawbacks. First, the touch is different from modern Apple keyboards because it requires a deeper press of each key to register a character and has a less crisp tactile feedback. Another problem with my unit is that it wobbled slightly on a flat surface because the 4 rubber feet were not in the same plane. Even a minor wobble is distracting when trying to key numbers without looking at the pad. However, I found that I could flex the whole case by hand and bend it enough (less than 2 mm) to correct the wobble. Great as an extension to a Bluetooth keyboard
No special drivers or any setup headaches. It works fine with my application that reads a numeric keypad. The color very closely matches that of my Mac wireless keyboard.
