    Insight into Lived Islam

As Americans we want to believe that all religions are essentially good. This movie, based on a true story, shows some elements of Islam which are not good. Soraya M., the tragic heroine, is a good wife and mother. Her husband openly takes a 14-year-old mistress in a bigger city. He abuses Soraya in front of their children, and turns the older son against his mother. He wants to get rid of Soraya so as to have the girl, and concocts a charge of adultery with an old man whose wife has just died, and for whom she does housework. The husband has obtained this position. The husband turns all the male residents of the tiny mountain village against her. Her alleged co-adulterer (!) is one of the accusers. Hubby even gets the son to throw stones at his own mother. As Soraya lies there, ...

  • Disturbing

Idk how else to describe this movie. The actor that portrayed Jesus in Passion of the Christ, portrays a journalist that gets this story out to the world. You also get the same horrible feeling that just watching the movie makes you guilty of a crime & helpless that you cannot stop this crime from taking place. When a movie can make you feel like you’re there living through this experience from the sidelines it is truly amazing.

  • Heartbreaking

As I watched the horrors this film holds, I realized how women in ANY Islamic nation are subjected to the possibilities of a horrible death. The Stoning shows just how callous and cruel the standards are in the Islamic World. For those of you foolish enough to believe Islam is a Peaceful religion, I challenge you to watch this film. To know Islam is growing in leaps and bounds in America not only distresses me but makes me realize how easily our Nation could be thrown into such a horrible belief system. Women in the Islamic World are treated lower than livestock and are subjected to cruelty and fear each and everyday. It takes 2 men as witnesses to condemn a woman to death, even if only with lies. Women in Islamic nations know fear everyday they open their eyes for it could be the last ...

  • Profoundly Disturbing

After watching this atrocious act take place at the hands of vile people who were/are led entirely by their warped version of religion, I will never again feel apologetic for saying that I am more troubled by the death of innocent animals than I am the death of most human beings. Nothing over the course of history - and I fear in the future as well - has ever been responsible for a greater number of murderous acts than mankind's devotion to their particular interpretation of any number of religions. This movie was PROFOUNDLY DISTURBING. Thank goodness that with the release of this movie the world has the opportunity to see how unjust an entire community can be.

  • Educational* Gripping* Edge of your seat

Loved the book and the movie is GREAT! TRUE story of what happened to a woman in 1o8os Iran. Stoned for a false accusation of Adultry. Great acting, realistic scene that will bring you right into the emotions of the woman Soraya & her Aunt.
