There’s nothing quite like these.
I bought these to repair a small mobility scooter on which the battery power plugs had obviously overheated with the current and partially melted. This isn’t, I’m sure, a ‘fault’ which has caused this, it is simply that the silly little hollow pinned plugs they used are (unsurprisingly) not up to the job. This brings me to my comment in my title. It’s not until you start looking around for plug systems which will handle this kind of current that you realise little is available. Plenty of ‘small end’ connectors in the style of model battery connectors or standard ‘centre pin’ types of plugs and sockets for appliance chargers etc. but VERY little available for 10-20 (plus) amps. Fixed connectors, perhaps (automotive), but as a simple ‘plug-in-pull-out’ option for bigger current ranges, these ... Fixed connectors, perhaps (automotive), but as a simple ‘plug-in-pull-out’ option for bigger current ranges, these seem the only viable option I could find. Connecting the pins can be a challenge. Ideally I would have preferred to crimp them but the pins are far too big for any automotive type crimper and would either need a specialised or hydraulic crimper which is not viable for a ‘one-off’ job of a few pins. I therefore solder filled the connections, with heat shrink collars added afterwards to cover the (inevitable?) scorching of the first few millimetres of insulation. As long as the parts are well fluxed (with rosin electrical flux, of course) and bought to equal heat while the solder is fed in, it works sufficiently well. The plugs themselves are well made with very strong outer casings and solid connector pins which, by design, are held together when coupled by spring tension within the plugs thus maintaining the solid contact necessary to handle higher currents without arcing. The other very clever aspect of these plugs is that both halves are the same, but can only connect one way so reversal is impossible. That is a very clever design. I have thus replaced all the connectors on this scooter with these plugs and it’s working fine again, with the added peace of mind that with more robust plugs than the original fitment, it will be more reliable than new. In summary, I can’t recommend these plugs strongly enough. Well made, relatively inexpensive and, as said, for the heavier current applications, they’re just about the only players in the game. I don’t know what else I’d have done for this application without these.

This junction box should never have reached the market. The plastic is thin and flexes very easily when screwing it to the wall, making the cover fit unevenly and leak water. The inner connector block is hampered by the third junction and is forced to bend in order for it to fit inside the leaky box. Above all, because it houses 240 volts and leaks, it is dangerous to use and should be discarded for another make.This junction box should never have reached the market. It’s ok
It seems to not fit together will with other 50amp Anderson connector as there is a slight difference in the size, I also found the lug hole is also so a bit small for heavy gauge battery cable but that’s not a big problem to resolve as I just bought bigger lugs. The lugs The came with them are good for solar size cables though.

These are Anderson plugs, but they look like toy ones
I have been in the transport industry for over 40 years and never come across Anderson plugs like these tiny toy like versions before. The picture looks like teal size but I saw no indication that in-fact they are tiny. Place your second and third finger together and that is the width of them. I will find a use for them but not the use I intended.

Not ideal
The mounting lug holes are too close to the box, making it difficult to find a screw small enough but long enough to get a grip. I finished up drilling the back of the box and coating the back with sealer.
