Given that the shape is a little awkward and could have been damaged fairly easily in transit, I appreciated that it was packaged appropriately.

If you are having trouble reading disks in vertical position try putting a large rubber band around the console to press down the disc drive cover. Thanks for offering such a useful and affordable product so many years after the PlayStation 2 went out of production.
