Inarguably one of the most important figures in 20th-century American music, jazz impresario Norman Granz introduced live jazz to mainstream audiences with his Jazz at the Philharmonic concert series. This program celebrates Granz' pioneering legacy with a live performance by saxophonist Benny Carter at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in 1977. Backed by pianist Ray Bryant, drummer Jimmie Smith, and bassist Niels Pedersen, Carter performs classic numbers such as "Body and Soul" and "Here's That Rainy Day Again."
