About this product

Product Information

Set in an alternate history in which famed British leader Winston Churchill dies in a 1931 car accident and the United States never enters WWII, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty tells the story of the subsequent world dominance by the Axis Powers. Neville Chamberlain's Great Britain surrenders to Germany in 1940, followed by Hitler's Middle East incursion and the fall of Russia one year later, and, thanks to oil from its German ally, Japan is able to skirt the U.S. embargo and assert its dominance over Asia. A limited resistance movement forms in the United States in 1943, but an uneasy peace persists for a decade as no military action is taken. Then, beginning with a stunning assault on New York City, the German army takes over the United States thanks to state-of-the-art weapons developed by a Nazi war machine that never stopped churning.

The game begins with the surprise invasion of New York, as fighter jets streak through the clouds, massive battleships converge on the harbor, thousands of paratroopers and hulking tanks pepper the Manhattan skyline, and giant zeppelins the size of aircraft carriers blot out the sun. Players take on the role of Dan Carson, a blue-collar New York construction worker-turned resistance fighter, as he traverses girders and battles paratroopers in an attempt to escape the shell of an incomplete skyscraper now crumbling from the German assault. With no gun to defend himself, Carson must use brute strength and take advantage of the elevated environment to fend of the Nazi attackers and reach the ground before the building collapses. It gets no easier on the ground though, as players must then use guerilla tactics and more unique environmental kills to overcome superior weapons and battle the Nazi menace through the streets of New York City, Washington D.C., and London.

  • A good game for beginner shooters

This game has some catching up to do on PS 3 graphics + game play. However if you are a beginner or novice player looking for an entry-level first person shooter, this game is for you. I played it on normal difficulty. Most levels are a cakewalk. It is kind of boring for a skilled player but it will be fun for a beginner + train them well. There are a few levels where you need to adjust to a new weapon introduced by the enemy. On the other hand the last few levels were quite fun. The graphics and game play are that of a mid level play station 2 game. Most enemies are fairly stupid and they love to get shot. The last 4 or so levels introduce more challenges and become very fun. When you die and repeat the level, nothing changes. This makes it very easy to memorize where each enemy will be ...

  • Bland, Blocky, Linear - Rent; Don't Buy

I bought this game because the plotline had so much potential. An alternate reality that involves fighting a Nazi invasion in New York City sounded awesome! However, Turning Point was a huge disappointment. The missions are all very linear, so you cannot choose an order in which to do things. Carson goes from point A to point B, bang bang. Now he goes from point B to point C with a different gun, bang bang. It is very robotic and pre-planned. At point C, there is a tank or blimp, bang bang again. Other than token landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, the subways, streets and buildings are generic. The map is not truly patterned after New York, DC, or London streets, and it doesn't matter anyway because there's only one route to pass the level. The graphics look like they belong on the ...

  • ultimately leaves u hanging

being a HUGE afficianado of Resistance Fall of Man I and II, i was drawn to this title. the historical premise looked promising, and the game opens with u literally on the front edge of the nazi invasion of NY city so it is visually grand, but graphics r only ok, i m pretty spoiled on what else is out there these days. the plot is minimal and linear, game flow is basic player funneled through the landscape with adequate environmental interactivity but again i m jaded. i eventually blew away everyone and everything i needed to in order to complete the game, but the ending left me hanging. C+, B- at best, expect more from this company next time...

  • Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (Playstation 3)

Fair amount of action, gun selection is pretty good. Player movement is a little stiff and there are lots of glitches in enemy movement. Sometimes will stall when restarting at checkpoints after dying. Does seem a little like "Medal of Honor" but a poor immitation. Not worth buying brand new for $60 at the store. Find used on Ebay for half or less and it will be an OK game.

  • Boring and generic, suitable for a five year old

The game has little at most for a story line. The hero of the game has no story, little lines. The targeting system is shakey, the best way to describe it. Your enemies AI are a insult to a five year olds. You can be killing one Nazi and two feet away three Nazi's will be standing there doing nothing. They where huge glowing goggle's so they stick out likea sore thumb. The graphics look like there barely Ps2 standard. Turning Point is nothing short of a very cheap rip off of Medal of Honor. Its too bad, its a great concept, they just killed. It's a insult to all WW2 Shooter's and the developer's should hang there head's in shame.
