You kinda hold the coins off at an angle when you drop them and the slot has a self righting shape that helps funnel them in. Some assembly required but it’s literally just spin a couple wing nuts on, easy peasy.

I practiced a while and found that I could sort with this no faster than I can sort by hand. Sorting by hand gives me a chance to look for errors, wheats, etc. I'm keeping this on my sorting table, handy for checking the 82's and coins with illegible dates. No complaints! Okay, one. Wish it had a hopper or something to guide the pennies in faster and with fewer jams.
