Madden NFL has an exclusive liscense to the NFL players, trademarks, and other properties. This means that you won't find any other authentic game out there with up to date players, teams, or coaches. So basically it's Madden or bust. Fortunately this game is pretty good and if you like football you won't be disappointed. This game offers a rousing and realistic game of football with plenty of gaming modes. You can put together a tournament featuring your favorite teams, you can play an entire season including training camp, or you can just play an exhibition game. A nice feature for me was the football 101 sessions with Madden coaching me while I practiced different plays with my favorite teams. This game has plenty to offer and should appeal to most any football fan of any skill level. I would recommend picking up an edition one or two years old because you'll get a much better deal and very few changes are made from year to yearRead full review
I began playing madden in 2005 and saw obvious flaws in the game (computer becomes Peyton Manning no matter what if they're trailing in the 4th quarter, little corners can lay the wood on huge Running Backs all the time, etc.) so I was looking forward to 06 immensely, even got on the pre-order list to get it ASAP. Well I found the game the exact opposite of the previous year. Passing, once the vogue in 05, was now super difficult, but at least linebackers bite on the 2nd and short play-action every once in a while, right? The Truck stick allows running backs to beat up the secondary when they get there, but now speed ratings are all tapered down to such an extent to where no burners have a big edge like dante hall, westbrook, vick, etc. Defense is far stingier, but now the offense struggles mightily at times. But ultimately the one time that was over the line that made me sell the game right here on ebay and revert to playing 05 for another year and hope they fix some stuff in 07 is the fact that they took away custom playbooks from the franchise mode. You would think they would keep the features they have that everyone likes.....Because after failing with all the playbooks in the game I was thinking "hey, at least I can spend the time to customize what I want to do on offense and go from there." Nope. Play for 30 years in a franchise, but with all the same plays to choose from. Yep, that's realistic.Read full review
You like football? You like video games? Then you will love Madden NFL. But you can love it just as much on playstation or regular XBOX. Its really not that much different a game from system to system. So, I say YES to the game and NO to the xbox 360. Don’t buy the 360 just to play Madden, if you just want to play Madden, play it on playstation or regular XBOX. Regardless of what game system you play Madden on, it’s the best game available to play. If you like football, and you like video games, this is the best way to go. Nothing beats Madden. I play it on playstation all the time and love it online or against the computer.
Was there ever a Madden game that wasn't great? I spent hours playing this one. If you like football then this is the game for you. The new "truck stick" feature is great. Mini camp games are fun too. A must buy!
I bought Madden NFL 2006 for my son (age 8)who loves football. He loved it from the beginning. He really likes the fact that you can play a players whole career and you can see where the quarterback is going to throw the ball. He likes 2006 much better than the Madden 2005 game he was playing. I asked him if there was anything he would change about the game and he said "not a thing".
Aw this game is one of the best games i have ever played on the gamecube. I just loved how the graphics and detail and also the potential this game had. but sadly it fell in prices becuase i only got it for a penny but still a great game.
I purchased the game for my sons. They don't have any complaints. They play it all the time. They have all the ones from 2003, 2004, and 2005. They really don't change that much from year to year. However, they do add a few whistles and horns and they like it.
Nice realism and graphics. Running great on the new Wii. It's a little hard to spot your receivers, though, even with the "quarterback vision" which you can turn off. Announcers are just as talkative as the real broadcasts! Team strengths and moves, lots of plays to choose from, offense AND defense. A good deal on the standard in football sims.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
I bought this game because I played it when it first came out and loved it, the game play all around is good, others say they have come across glitches but I've yet to see any, only bad part about this game is it's old and the rosters are old but thats no big deal. So if you are a sports fan this game can be pretty fun, I enjoyed it back then and I'm still enjoying it now.
