The Pirate Chase
I bought this book as it was the gap in the series for us. We'd become hooked when my son (age 7) was bought The Siren Song (book 2). He is a Pirates of the Carribean fan but finds the films too scary to watch so these books provide a great way for younger fans to get involved in Jack Sparrow stories. As with the other books in the series, we have read it, chapter at a time, before bed and he eagerly awaits each new installment. Although set within a series, the book has a good story of its own. However The Pirate Chase, as I've found with the other books, needed some sentences explaining. My son is capable of reading most words but the level of language and complexity of sentence structure frequently leaves him lacking understanding.
