Great sound combinations in an easy to use pedal.

Actually purchased it to use with my Hammond C3 organ but so far only using it with a guitar. Tracks very well, plenty of adjustments possible, probably eats batteries like most of the more complicated BOSS pedals so I'm running it with A/C. Npo issues with it so far.

    Decent for some things

I bought this to get a fuller sound when rehearsing alone or with just the drummer, which I do quite often. I found exactly one setting where it does a decent job of playing a bass note along with you and this I will use a lot. I found exactly one organ sound I could use when finger picking chords. These two are probably all I will use. I bought this Boss pedal because I have other Boss pedals that are great at what they do. I do wish I'd researched more YouTube vids and reviews on other brand synthesizer pedals, to see if there was one I might get more use out of. I only compared it ti Pigtronix, which may be better, I couldn't tell that much difference from the videos and the Pigtronix cost more, enough to help influence my decision to go with reliable Boss. I do like very much the ...

  • Boss SY-1 Synthesizer Pedal

I have mixed emotions about this Pedal review. First off, I like the Boss SY-1 pedal, it's okay. I own both the Roland GR-1 and GR-33 Guitar Synthesizers with the requisite GK pick-ups ( GK-2 and/or GK-3) Though those early pioneers of guitar synthesis did have some tracking issues, for the most part they were serviceable for live performance as long as they weren't prominent in the FOH mix (depending on the soundbank of choice of course). The thing I really enjoyed with those older synths was the variety of sounds This is where the SY-1 pedal Lacks major mojo....The library of sounds are not broad enough for my tastes.....no piano sounds.....no ethnic percussion sounds.......no trumpet or sax sounds.....no ethnic horn or wind instrument sounds....no accordion or harmonica sounds. It would ...

  • Great Play but sounds patches should be better.

The tracking is spot on with no latency; works on all types of playing and technique. What I don’t care for is the many of the sounds themselves. There are some inspiring sounds but many are too harsh and redundant. I find the variety and quality of Yonac’s Roxsyn on my iPad to have much better patches for 1/10th of the price tag. Boss/Roland is missing the mark here by not stocking this synth pedal with superior and diverse sounds. They could easily replace half of the current sounds with something better. I do enjoy this pedal for it’s plug in and play directness but the price is a bit steep for the current limitations and questionable sound quality of many of the patches. Why couple such advanced tracking technology with old, primitive sounds?

  • Great looking unit but no usable sounds maybe broken electronics.

Sorry to say after two hours of trying out all the sounds and settings there were no usable sounds that I could find for my guitar that would compliment my original songs --I had hopes of finding at Least 5 or 6. I own at least 7 Boss stomp boxes that I still use It has possible broken electronics internally.needs to be corrected. Thank You
