About this product

Product Information

The Galactic Empire is down but not yet out in the PSP-exclusive Star Wars: Battlefront -- Renegade Squadron. With the original Death Star destroyed thanks to the heroics of Luke Skywalker, the Empire regroups and mounts a counterstrike on the Alliance base at Yavin 4. The assault will not go unchallenged. A secretive army under the command of Han Solo plans to engage the enemy, and your help is desperately needed. As a key part of the ragtag Renegade Squadron, you will battle the Empire across multiple planets and star systems in a galaxy far, far away.

The main campaign consists of 11 missions on land and in space. The action is viewed from a third-person perspective behind the character or ship, with weapons such as incinerator guns, rocket launchers, blasters, and cluster grenades used to engage enemies and to accomplish mission objectives. New equipment, skills, weapons, and other customization features can be unlocked to further personalize created characters. Once you're ready to test your skills against human opponents, Renegade Squadron supports up to 16 combatants online via Infrastructure mode or up to eight via Ad-hoc mode. Four playable factions are available in a choice of two time periods: prequel or classic.

In the Conquest Mode, players race to capture various command posts on a map to prevent the enemy from gaining reinforcements. Capture the Flag comes in three distinct varieties: one flag in the map's center, two flags on opposing sides, or the new "hero capture-the-flag" option. The latter involves defending hero-specific flags while trying to steal flags from rivals. Each map also offers specific vehicles, creatures, and other surprises to use against the enemy. Renegade Squadron is available as a standalone game or as part of a limited edition bundle that includes a white "slim" PSP with a silkscreened image of Darth Vader on the case.

  • Very nice game!

GOOD: - 23 maps, including 9 maps never seen before in the battlefront series (many of the old maps have been remade for the PSP also). - customization and personalization, allowing the player to chose their own weapons, abilities, and appearances for the Empire, Rebellion, Republic, & CIS. - a decent campaign with a nice story and cool cutscenes. - new galactic conquest with more strategical elements - great online multiplayer for 16 players - good framerate - asteroid bases in space battles are awesome - new ships + jedis/sith in space battles - fast loading times BAD: - controls are awkward - graphics aren't that great - AI is too easy - the campaign is short It's a pretty good Battlefront game overall and it's great for on-the-go gaming.

  • Nice addition to the PSP

Overall this is a great game for the PSP that utilizes most of the power the PSP can offer. I had low expectations for this game and was pleasantly surprised to find that it offered more than I had expected. There is a mode called conquest which is a nice game to play while you’re on the road or flight. It adds a strategy aspect to the shooter based game. However, I was unimpressed with the multiplayer, as every game I joined felt choppy and that made it difficult to get into the game. Playing with friends using Adhoc was extremely fun and was definitely a worth while game to play of road trips. Graphics 9/10 for the PSP this looked great Sound:9/10 If you’re a Star Wars fan this is great Multiplayer: 7/10 The only reason I give this a 7 is the online play seems choppy Overall ...

  • Excellent Addition to the Star Wars Series on the PSP

I decided to buy this game after a friend convinced me that it would be better than Battlefront II. Well, it was. Star Wars Renegade Squadron has two modes of play: Single Player and Multiplayer. Single Player features Instant Action (which is the same game play as in Battlefront), Campaign and Galatic Conquest. All three modes are similar to each but different in their own ways. Instant Action is literally what it implies. You set up a "playlist" of worlds (and their corresponding eras) that you want to play and as you beat each map, the game moves down the playlist to the next map. It's fun, simple and doesn't require much time or commitment. Campaign mode has a storyline, of course. The storyline has hours worth of game play for newbies or, at least 2-3 days worth of playing for ...

  • SWBF: renegade squadron

It was an ok game. Liked how you could personalize character and exchange weapons and gear. I didn't like how the gear you could select had to add up to 100 credits or less. Wish they could have a money system where you could buy upgrades. Didn't try multiplayer, but tried galactic conquest. Overall set up was ok. You had to buy troops on each planet and upgrades. Taking over sectors will unlock heros that give bonuses. Didn't really care for the game play. I am used to the ps2 games, so guess i'm a little byass toward their setup.
