  • We all have an immigrant past--

If you are interested in immigrant stories this is a fine one. Rolvaag was an immigrant from Norway, who eventually became a professor at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. The library there is named for him. His other books tell of the hardships of Norwegians settling in the Dakota Territory.

  • One of the best books I have read in a long time.

Beautifully written. Should be required reading for all college students interested in American culture.
