The greatest decision when buying a battery tool is BRAND. Once you have a battery, you are locked in, so pick a manufacturer with a wide selection of tools for that battery. You may start with a drill motor, but you may soon find need for an impact driver, or a saw, etc. I was sold on Milwaukee M18 when I watched a contractor zip through a garage door installation with them. If you are a once-a-year user, any brand will do. If you are a serious user, spend the money! It will cost you less in the long run. Any tool will eventually need service, but the Milwaukee ones are built for tough use. (I dropped my drill motor off the ladder onto concrete a couple of times, with no more than cosmetic damage.) Plus, with Milwaukee, you can get parts, unlike the brand-of-the-week imports. I already own a line-powered oscillating tool, but when you are up-high somewhere, this beats dragging an extension cord (which will snag on something, and unplug, as soon as you are up the ladder). You won't have to fiddle with an Allen wrench to change blades; this uses a thumb screw and locking lever. It also comes with an adapter for other brands' differing mounting patterns. You won't have to buy one separately. The speed control works great. This tool is a bit bigger than the cheap ones, and surprisingly heavy, but it is up to commercial use. All in all, a very useful addition to my Milwaukee M18 fleet.Read full review

This is one tool that needs to be in your collection. Its easy to operate and very powerful. (of course its the 18v.) Very versatile and handy to use. I use it on wood, metal and anything that needs cutting or cleaning and sanded. The only draw back is the cost of the blades but u can find good value on the internet. The name speaks for itself.

I'm a DIYer, a weekend warrior. When you need a multi-tool, you need it to do what it's supposed to do. For years, I had good but lesser-quality tools. Eventually, they failed and/or couldn't go the last mile to do what I really needed them to do, like straight and clean cuts, and drilling holes that didn't break the substrate, etc. I bought into the Milwaukee system last year -- M18. The comfort of knowing that tools are going to do what I need them to do cannot be understated. I hate aggravation.

I love this tool. I've used multi tools many times mostly power corded ones, and the battery brand ones I used just didn't seem to do as well as my 18v Milwaukee.

This oscillating saw/tool turned out to be way more versatile than I imagined and I use it more often than other saws. Great for plunge cuts without kickback. Cuts are nice and clean and the saw is powerful, too. Have only used it to cut wood and drywall. Haven't used the sanding attachments yet. Tool feels solid and is nicely balanced with the small battery. The only drawback is the large handle diameter, a little awkward for small hands. Great product, highly recommend. Milwaukee M18 tools are a little overpriced but well worth it if you can find deals. .
