Late-1970s band Chic distinguished themselves from the overproduced disco hordes with an organically rhythmic sound that stemmed from Nile Rodgers's staccato guitar-playing and Bernard Edwards's funky basslines. In addition to producing their own disco hits such as "Le Freak" and "Good Times" (the latter of which jumpstarted a music revolution when it was used as the sample for the first-ever rap single, the Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight"), the Rodgers and Edwards team also wrote anthemic hits for Sister Sledge ("We are Family") and Diana Ross ("I'm Coming Out"). This program finds a reunited Chic (minus Edwards, who died in 1996) performing these songs and more at the 2004 Montreux Jazz Festival.

Excellent show just the way they invisioned it !
One of the premier Funk bands of the 80's, very distinctive sound and stage presence. Members of the original band went on to bigger and better future endeavors on their own. This particular show was taped later on after the founding members reunited and one had died. But overall it captures the band and their songs as they intended. I love all of these original founding funk bands of this time period and their unique sound. It is hard to find dvds of these bands alone in concert, they are usually featured on compilations w/ one track highlighted. I highly recommend this DVD, it is a must for anyone that used to enjoy the unique music & style of Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. Who can forget tunes like Dance,Dance,Dance(yowsah,yowsah,yowsah), Good times, I want your love, Le Freak, etc... I used to be a professional club DJ in the late 70's to early 80's and played in some of the top clubs in the States and Europe. I was a big Chic fan, have many wonderful memories, including "packed" dance floors when putting on a Chic record. I say....buy it and enjoy going back in time.
