Great seller! Promptly answered my questing, very accommodating. My item arrived ahead of schedule and in good condition and as described. I purchased a discontinued product to replace the one I had. Now I can use the new one for several more years and keep the old one for spare parts! I'm grateful that the seller had this in stock and sold it for a very good price. I would do business with them again with no hesitation. Thanks!

    A landmark television documentary.

The fascinating in-depth story of the first black U.S. heavy-weight boxing champion. This edition comes with supplemental extras of deleted scenes and a making of mini documentary, and also a piece on the musical score.

  • Unforgettable Greatness!

I knew many of the facts about Jack Johnson for years, having read much in the past including Nat Fleischer’s assessment that he was the greatest heavyweight champion of all, and the statement after their fight by James Jeffries that he couldn’t have beaten Johnson on the best day of his life. I grew up in the Joe Louis era, since I was born a month after he won the heavyweight championship, and admired him greatly. But one thing always bothered me about Louis; he always seemed to me to be too humble. Whenever he made a public statement, his groveling was unworthy of an athletic hero, seemingly the person who, as John L Sullivan always was have said to proclaim, could “Lick any man in the world!” Of further concern to me was that many blacks thought that this humility of Louis was a ...

  • Boxing and American History Lesson in one

This documentary is very entertaining and a very good lesson in American history. The people who are interviewed have such great enthuiasm and passion for the subject matter, they make it even more interesting. The footage from the turn of the 20th Century is incredible. It's hard to imagine that boxing matches caused riots in this country but it's all explained. The white supremacy of the day is astounding.
