Very insughtful look into the personal as well as musical life of Shane. You get to know how he came to be the person he is from interviews from Family and Friends. His transition from being a Punker into a Pogue and Irish Traditional Music Icon is well documented. He has a lovely wife that stands by him inspite of all his drunken adventures and misadventures and the fact that he can barely make words out at most times. Talk about Love. Highly recommended for anyone that's a fan or has a sligh interest in Contemporary Irish Rock and Folk Music.
Big Pogues fan. Absolutely loved the documentary. Bought it for my 22 yo son who thought it was awsome.
If you're a person who can't stand the very idea of American Idol. If the latest batch of replaceable "pop tarts" leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. If you're able to find that genuine people shine through even in these dark dumbed down daze, then huddle up and bask in the glow that is Shane MacGowan. Stay close and keep warm, for it's cold out there. His music is fantastic. Every album is just one good song after another. I'm not kidding, every song - good, good, goodgoodgoodgoodgood. My normal buying pattern in my idiot youth took this form. I'd buy the album with the latest pop hit. It would have a couple of other o.k. songs and the rest would be filler - just junk. And then I'd buy the next forgettable album, repeated ad nauseam. I'm ashamed to say it took a looooong time to get away from these front-men for corporate crooks and find actual musicians. But find them I did, and for me, Shane tops the list. I'm content with just him actually. I've found my music. Anyway, I haven't said anything about the DVD. It's great! Buy it! xDRead full review
