It's hard not to like Major League. Whether you are a baseball fan or not, it is the kind of movie with a little something for everybody...but also a lot of baseball. It is a movie about a group of players assembled by Cleveland Indians' ownership to be so bad they would cause attendance to plummet to the point where the new owner of the team could move the team to Miami. It's a motley crew of individuals who are assembled unwittingly for the task. They have some skills but also plenty of issues; however, through perseverance (or luck) the team mounts a winning streak and plays the New York Yankees in the final game of the season in a classic favorite-vs.-underdog matchup. The movie stars a number of actors who you may have heard of, including Charlie Sheen (Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn), Wesley Snipes (Willie Mays Hayes), Tom Berenger (Jake Taylor), Corbin Bernsen (Roger Dorn), Rene Russo (Lynn Wells aka Berenger's ex), Dennis Haysbert (Pedro Cerrano aka the guy from the Allstate commercials), and James Gammon as Manager Lou Brown. And what list of characters would be complete without mentioning Bob Uecker's work as broadcaster Harry Doyle, who delivers some of the best lines of the movie. If you are looking for special features in this DVD, look elsewhere because unless you count the movie being presented in widescreen format and having English subtitles that can be enabled for those who prefer to read rather than listen (or, of course, for the hearing impaired), you are out of luck. But who needs special features when you have Cerrano being brought a bucket of chicken for his pre-game sacrifice or the fans in the outfield bleachers arguing over the physics of a home run ball hit "too high". This is a predictable feel-good movie all around, but that does not diminish it in any way. For those looking for a laugh, don't strike out and pass on this movie.Read full review

When the aged owner dies and his young ex-showgirl wife inherits the team, she realizes that she is stuck with a team with no real talent, in a falling-down stadium, in a city where it is always cold! She longs for the warm sunshine of Florida, and when she receives an offer to relocate the team she must devise a plan that will be accepted by the league. While looking through the terms of the team's lease, she finds that if the team draws fewer than 800,000 in total attendance for the season, she can legally relocate the team. Now sh has a plan. Put together a team so bad, that nobody will come see them. She hires a coach from nowhere, and a whole team of nobodies. She won't fix any of the equipment or even pay for hot water, or a decent airplane. They ride on a bus. But she underestimates their talent, and because of their hatred for her, they start winning and eventually win the pennant. There is a great cast, with Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger, Rene Russo, Corbin Bernsen, Wesley Snipes. This is a fun movie, and I think that you will enjoy it.Read full review
