The Duke on A&E
John Wayne has always been a big favorite of mine. This biography was full of information I hadn't known about him. Not only the stories about the good things but it also showed that he was human. Not just the cardboad cutout that Hollywood would have had you believe so long ago. To me John Wayne is still and always will be The Duke, by the way I learned where that name originated watching this biography too. Good basic documentary
I didnt learn anything new. I would certainly have prefered to see John Wayne in interviews, and also more anectdotes from people that knew him. If you have just become interested in the Duke, then this is a good starting point to learn more about the Big Guy. If you are already a fan and have seen most of his movies, you are better off re-watching his classics.

I love it of course, because it shows so clearly how much this man loved this country.He loved his country and in his later films it was evident. He was a supporter of the NRA. It is so crucial to keep that in the Bill of Rights.The right to bear arms. The way the world is in such disarray we have to be able to protect what is ours. He knew when to keep his mouth shut and speak when called upon to do so.
