Let me first say that I really did enjoy this game. It's got all the best Ace Attorney elements, like an adorable sidekick and a really cool prosecutor who nevertheless drives you crazy, and then it's got some of Ema Skye's new scientific tricks during investigation mode. Apollo is quite nearly as likable as Phoenix was, the witnesses and defendants are just as wacky and charming, and the design team came up with some awesome locations and background art. That having been said, my personal opinion is that this game would have been much more fun had it been totally disconnected from Phoenix Wright altogether. I spent more time wondering about why Phoenix was disbarred (and fruitlessly waiting for Maya to show up) than caring about Apollo and Trucy. For anyone who adored Phoenix's games and got hopelessly attached to the characters, this game might be a huge disappointment. On top of that, the last case was terribly confusing, and its logic really didn't seem to make sense. Phoenix leads you through investigation in the past and future, but you can present newly gained evidence from the future... in the past. Whaaaat? Still, I would recommend you play the game, whether you're obsessed with Phoenix or you don't even recognize his name. The charm of Klavier Gavin, Trucy Wright, and the Gramarayes most nearly makes up for the lack of our beloved characters from the first three games, and perhaps you'll be more patient with the new Phoenix (and the new Ema, too) than I was. Altogether as a standalone, it's challenging but still full of wacky attorney fun!Read full review
This game is really good the only reason I gave it a 4 is because its a shame the original series ended. Now we have to get introduced to new characters again although it is still fun and exciting to play. Players star as rookie defense attorney Apollo Justice as he visits crime scenes, questions key witnesses and collects vital evidence before stepping into the courtroom to prove his clients' innocence. Facing Apollo across the courtroom is the highly talented and flamboyant prosecutor Klavier Gavin who, in addition to being a legal genius, is also lead singer with Gavinners, a highly successful rock band with a string of hits to their name. He may be young and inexperienced but Apollo's confident manner and passion, coupled with his unique ability to uncover witnesses' lies by studying their body language, will prove invaluable assets in the courtroom as he pleads the case for the defense. Thankfully, Apollo is not alone and is aided both in and out of the courtroom by his assistant Trucy, a mysterious female magician. Apollo also receives invaluable advice from his mentor the ultra-cool Kristoph Gavin, elder brother of Klavier, whose perfect logic and natural instincts have won him numerous cases and the respect of his colleagues.Read full review
For fans of the Phoenix Wright series, this is a pleasant addition. It was especially nice to have fingerprinting brought back into the game after it was introduced at the end of game one and left. The change from using the magatama to using Apollo's bracelet to "perceive" people's nervousness is a little strange, but easy to get used to. It references some of the occurrences from previous games, so it isn't the best game to start for an introduction into the Wright Universe.
Brief and to the point: I enjoyed this game as a continuation to the Phoenix Wright Trilogy. The writing was very well done, which made me so into the story that I couldn't put it down. As a result, I beat this game fairly quickly, and there is little replay value. Unfortunately, I don't think the twists and turn of the cases were anything as outrageous as Trials and Tribulations, although that may be a plus for some. Purchase if you have to, or if you like to have sets; rent if available - if you are a "gamer" you will probably beat this game over the weekend. Enjoyed it while it lasted!
My Grandkids have been following this series since it’s conception in 2001 of course I don’t enjoy it because I can’t understand these Ds machines anytime it’s not playing Brain Age but my grandkids fully enjoyed this games 4 cases each one with its own narrative or some nonsense my grandson told me in this game you do lawyer stuff and after seeing my kids play it’s not accurate to when I watched my great great great grandfathers court trials how the law has changed anyway you do some investigation stuff and then court stuff and there are these characters that my grandson really likes I forgot their names but I think a few were Bollo Trucg and Klaviy however my grandkids told me when writing this review to say that you should play the first three first also my grandkids liked the game because the manual had a lot of effort put in to it and I also saw those forensics mini games that were confusing for my brain but my grandson seemed to like them also these games excel at making my grandkids actually think for once usually they do useless button mashing in super smash bros anyway that’s all for my review I have to go back to playing Wii Sports instead of Brain Agr because my grandkids are busy playing this game.Read full review

Really great game overall. Like the other Phoenix Wright games, it's full of puns and mysteries. A little goofy but not too much to get annoying. Really starts to use the 3D observations of items effectively. I really liked the bracelet that catches when a witness lies. Animation has much improved as well. Apollo is actually not bad, once you get to know him. ^_^ Can't wait to finish, about halfway through.
Great game and I got it for a great price. If you're a fan of the Pheonix Wright series, then you'll love this game! Even if you know nothing about Pheonix Wright, but you want to play a great game about the fun aspects of the judicial system (not the boring parts), then this is the game for you. This game is good for yound people as well as adults. I reccomend you try it. I'm sure you won't regret it.
