In all its 16-bit glory, General Chaos still remains one of my favorite Genesis games. In campaign mode you play a series of real-time strategy battles, slowly edging your way to the enemy's HQ, and victory beyond. The mechanics of the game are simple, press "A" to tell all your men to fire, "B" tells the currently highlighted guy to move where your cursor is located (surprisingly, the D-Pad controlled cursor isn't too bad to use), and "C" cycles through control of your guys. Once you get the hang of the controls and basic idea, you find it's all about where you place your guys on the map. Your flamethrower needs to be up close, while the rocket launcher should be far away. Your gunner provides covering fire, and the dynamiter and grenadier supply the boom. The environment itself needs to be considered, as you'll want to blow up many things for mission objectives, run around to ammo and medic supplies, hide behind cover, and swim across treacherous waters. Multiplayer adds another layer of fun to the game, as with a multi-tap, you can have up to four players. If you were a Sega kid like me, this is definitely a title to pick up.Read full review
general chaos is like the call of duty of the genesis. not really but this game is a fun game where you try to kill the other team of soilders. The cool thing about this game is you are able to choose what type of soldiers you would like to use in combat and there are multiple maps. This is a perfect game for the genesis and is one of my favorites. A must have for genesis owners

General Chaos is a port of an arcade game to the genesis by Electronic Arts before they sold out. That alone should make it a must buy. The gameplay is very simple you move a cursor around with the D-pad. C cycles through soldier, B makes them move to wherever you point with the cursor and A makes them automatically target and shoot. If you get too close to an enemy soldier you engage in close combat then the controls change into a fighting game. The goal of the game is to essentially get the highest score you can. No matter how many times the player marches through the enemy capital there is always the option to continue playing. General Chaos in a must buy for the genesis as it was one of the few game compatible with EA's 4way play (essentially a multi-tap) which meant you could play it with 3 other people. One major feature is called boot camp, essentially it teaches you the various control required to play the game so a manual isn't required. Track this down, play with friends and have fun.Read full review
I find this game to be incredibly entertaining and simple. I am not a gamer and do not follow modern gaming systems or fads. However, this game is truly classic. It's controls are simple; there are only three. The game allows for a fun single player adventure. It can also be played in a multi-player mode. With an adaptor for the controllers, one can insert up to four sega controllers into the counsel. The game has threee different maps. There are several fields to select from each battle. Once the game is finished, one can repeat the game with a different map, which can be done twice. The game features a training mode to familiarize the player with the basic concepts of the game. It is a priceless game that should be checked into.
This IMHO is the BEST GAME FOR THE SEGA GENESIS! I bought a Sega Genesis Just to Play This Game. I love the Game Play, The Action, the Computer AI is really good. EA at it's best. Sega should of put this game out there more, there wasn't a Super Nintendo Version made, I feel because Nintendo was taking on a Family Role when it went up againest Sega in the 16 Bit wars. Maybe Nintendo didn't want a port for this war game, remember they released Mortal Kombat WITHOUT BLOOD againest my wishes. BTW I LOVE THIS GAME!!!
I saw this game online, and I was compelled to purchase a cartridge for it, as I had purchased a Sega Genesis Model One as well. I can't wait to try it out!

This game is a great peice of nostalga for me. It has such a high learning curve at first, but I can remember the feeling of great accomplishment once I figured out how to play this successfully (I was 11). Now im 24 and the same feelings come back when playing. Even if you don't get this for nostalgic purposes, it is still a great military stratigy game. I definantly recomend trying to find a copy with a manual, but if you don't there are still game guides online.
