Never knew Meatloaf had a third "Bat out of Hell" cd. I was pleasantly surprised. If you liked the first two you will probably enjoy this sequel as well.

Fell in love with "Bat Out of Hell II" and love this one maybe even a little more. It's a little more heavy metal to me than II, which is just fine with me, but the amazing vocal and symphonic accompaniments add their own power to that of Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman. I couldn't be away from this CD very long so I ordered one for the house and one for the car -- and turn up the volume!

I am not exactly a die-hard Meat Loaf fan. From his discography, I have just the three recordings from the "Bat Out of Hell" series, obviously including this one. I can tell that this is a great CD to enjoy. His collection of opera-rock tunes (like "The Monster Is Loose", "Alive", "In the Land of the Pig, The Butcher is King") blended with some soulful and touchy ballads ("It's All Coming Back to Me", "Cry Over Me" and "Seize the Night") sounds very good and decent, a perfect choice for any type of mood, just like any of the previous albums from the "Bat Out of Hell" trilogy. Comparing this with his previous albums, one can realize that although the music and the production has changed a bit, the style and the intent was to keep the exact formula that made the previous editions to be so successful as they were.Read full review
This CD had little or no involvement of Jim Steinman. However it managed to be one of MeatLoaf's best works. As usual the songs can be lengthy but are not short on anything. This CD embodies the soul of Rock and Roll. The best tracks are: The Monster is Loose, It's All Coming Back To Me Now, Cry Over Me, In The Land of the Pig The Butcher is King, Monstro/Alive (2 parts to one great song) and lastly If God Could Talk. Being released 29 years after the first Bat Out Of Hell, MeatLoaf proves that he still has what it takes to be an extrodinary musician.
You can tell Meatloaf's voice is aging. The music is well performed.

Pretty decent, overall; unfortunately, Jim Steinman wasn't really involved with much of this (as Steinman usually writes, performs on and produces all of the "Bat Out of Hell" albums), but Meat Loaf absolutely sings his heart out. While not all of the tracks are absolutely essential, he does a wonderful rendition of Steinman's track "Bad for Good", and between himself, Brian May and the Steinman-esque production, the song finally reaches it's potential after all these years. Worth the purchase for that, if for absolutely no other reason...
The Late/Great Meatloaf does it again with both Bat Out of Hell II and III. His powerful, dynamic voice combined with the [other] Late/Great Writer/Composer, Jim Steinman makes both of these albums Great Listening!
