A Brave New World
A minimalist product, inexpensively constructed, that performs well. Once connected, this box is straightforward to use and delivers high quality audio from internet streams. It is unfortunate that one's first exposure to the its menu system will probably be trying to connect to a secure internet access point via Wi-Fi. If you know the issues and RTFM, you will succeed, or use a cat5 cable. The FM tuner is so-so; I have better ones available in the system; it is adequate for strong signals. The media player section would be more useful if it could also record. Remote is a little sluggish, even with fresh batteries. Instructions are not clear, especially about the 99 presets. The fm antenna connection is rather stupid "male" making it impossible to connect a coaxial cable from a rooftop antenna and forcing you use the included fm antenna which is not adequate for my area. Good thing it has internet access, because the fm antenna connection is useless. Otherwise impressive a whole new world of radioRemote is a little sluggish, even with fresh batteries. Good quality of sound.
There is some problem with remote control. Infrared signal to the receiver is excellent (measured with separate sensor & oscilloscope) but I think that tuner software is processing signal from remote control somewhat different way. Sometimes looks like that remote control does not work at all (but signal on oscilloscope is O.K.) or tuner react on command from remote control with delays - sometimes few second - other times longer or never. I did not have time jet contact Grace Technical help line for explanation why tuner does not react on command as we are normally use to it on another equipments. I hope that is not fault on all Grace tuners - that is only mine.There is some problem with remote control. Form factor is good for addition to normal component hi-fi equipment.
Sound is excellent quality for internet music transfer. I don't use the FM tuner at all, but it seems to work OK. Controls are a bit quirky, but the manual is good. Manual states that it will also do Sirius radio as well if you are a subscriber, but that is wrong. This is an older model and only the newer GRACE models now have that capability. But if good music streaming is your goal from your home router via internet, this is a good choice for that. It does not have speakers, as it's designed to use with an existing hi-fi set up much like a CD player or FM tuner or turntable.Sound is excellent quality for internet music transfer. Lightweight (too) with great features
This digital radio is great but somewhat too light. On my unit the tuning button is rubbing against something on each complete rotation. The radio sounds very good and is loaded with channels and features. The only negative is that It feels like it could brake very easily but so far so good.
