One of Andy Milligan's last films, "The Weirdo" is actually an extremely enjoyable one, mostly because this is a return to form for this cult director. The characters are strange, with some bizarre traits, and the main protagonist has "mother issues," which was always a familiar trait in Milligan's early work. Although it is an extremely low budget production, it still looks good, with many outdoor scenes, and filmed with mostly natural light. The original title was "The Weirdo : The Beginning," indicating that this was intended to have sequels. Sadly this never happened. It would have been fascinating to see Donnie as an adult, free from the confines of that hick town and those small minded people. The Bluray picture quality is excellent, although I don't know why it is presented in a 4x3 picture format. I wonder if Milligan wanted it shown in this format, like "Fleshpot On 42nd Street." Anyway this bluray will make a fine addition to any cult film library ..
