It is a quality Weller product, and it is good to have a spare.

Yes, I know that I can make tips of my own, but these tips have more weight in the tip, so the heat they generate has more mass to it and everybody knows that you must transfer heat fast so as to not put so much heat into the surrounding area, and only heat the connection fast. These do that, twisted copper wire will not. Twisted copper wire has a very limited appeal, but if that's all you need, then stick with it. I solder coax connectors, and I don't want the connector to get so hot as to damage it, so these work well for that.

    Weller soldering tip quality

I have two Weller 8200 soldering guns and have noticed that the current Weller replacement soldering tips seem to burn out much faster than in the past, with one or more tips lasting less than a week with moderate use. This forces me to buy larger quantities of replacement tips so I don't run out. The only explanation I can think of is that they must be using a cheaper grade of copper in the replacement tips, since I haven't changed my use or procedures, and I wondered if others have had the same problem with them burning out faster than in the past.

  • New tip gives new life to an old soldering gun !

My soldering gun (see photo) is older than eBay. This soldering tip gives it new life. It's a Weller product for a Weller gun. Fits like a glove, just bend the ends to install.

  • Buying a soldering iron

I like your tips. BUT I just bought a professional grade Weller soldering iron. It came with one tip of this style. So is this tip supposed to last 5 years? I paid $50 and get one tip? What gives with Weller. Have you ever bought one of their hobby irons. Weller invented the word CHEAP. Larry

  • Had to make slight mods.

I did not realize there were different models so I ordered the tips. They were slight oversize so I Dremeled off material. Then I bent the hooked ends in a vice with some hammering and fitted them in place with the jam nuts. It works great again. So order you correct model number and you will not have to do modifications like me. But they worked fine.

  • WELLER NEW SOLDERING TIPS FOR 8200.

  • 550 soldering tips

I'm glad you had the tips for my 550 Soldering gun. It has a max wattage. Of 325 watts.heats up very fast, IF,I keep the ends clean. That's the only trouble with any soldering iron of gun. They tarnish VERY EASY, and when you need it? It takes too long to heat up. But these OEM tips do help a lot.

  • Also works for Craftsman soldering gun

Very nice product and works well. I needed something to replace the tip in my Craftsman soldering gun. The leads don't exactly match, my a few bends with a pair of pliers made it work perfectly. Heat fast; finish slows corrosion, so I expect these will last a while. Very happy with the purchase.

  • Quality decline

I've used a Weller soldering gun for years as a hobbiest. The tips that I used over the years always seemed to last for a long time before burning in two or separating at the tip. However, the ones that I have purchased over the last couple of years seem to be short-lived. I don't know if there has been a change in the materials used in the manufacturing process, or the method of manufacture has changed, but something has caused a decline the quality of this product.
