About this product
Product Information
Professional philosophers have tended either to shrug off American philosophy as negligible or derivative or to date American philosophy from the work of twentieth-century analytical positivists such as Quine. Russell Goodman expands on the revisionist position developed by Stanley Cavell, that the most interesting strain of American thought proceeds not from Puritan theology or from empirical science but from a peculiarly American kind of Romanticism. This insight leads Goodman, through Cavell, back to Emerson and Thoreau and thence to William James and John Dewey, as they assimilated to American circumstances and intellectual habits the currents of European thought from Kant to Wittgenstein.

- 3***e (225)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseItem arrived as described, in perfect condition and in about a week. Well packaged in a large envelope and I thought it was well priced ... until I saw it elsewhere for half as much. Never mind, for a relatively low-priced item, I'm not too sore about paying more for this highly regarded tome. Good seller. Can recommended.
- c***c (461)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseA reliable and professional seller offering a wide range of items. Not always the cheapest option but certainly a store upon which you can depend. My goods were dispatched promptly, packaged appropriately and, upon receipt, found to be exactly as described. Communication throughout the process was good and I'd have no hesitation in purchasing from here in the future.Possibility (Wonder & Imagination) 500 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle by Paperblanks Hardco (#146371979206)

The seller was extremely supportive and when l explained that this book did not contain the content that l was looking for l was given a refund which happened very quickly and l offered to send the book back but the seller told me to keep it which l thought was very generous of the seller. I have bought books from this seller before and always had good service and in the future l will purchase again. Thanks to a very good seller.
